Sure, but you have already missed that bedtime. I see that you are still "online."

I went out to check on my chickens and the cold air woke me up a little.
My two silly Partridge cochin girls, Thelma and Louise, were roosting on top of the coop as usual. Doesn't matter to them if the wind, with a below zero windchill, is right on them. Their rooster was inside by himself. I have been trying for 4 mo. to get them to go in the coop to roost but they don't get it. On the up side; they used to be quite skiddish but all these weeks of handling them every night now they are quite friendly.

I have several like that & have given up putting them in the coop every night, I just leave them out & when they get cold enough they will go themselfs. If not.......

I am glad there are other folks that are mean to their birds! I feel that if you ain't bright enough to go into the coop then you deserve to be cold...there isplent of room...two seperate spaces...lots of hiding places...yeah...if you are cold it is your fault not mine.

Dang Wayne...that is tempting...besides I like a road trip...but not right now...there are stretches that don't have enough convienences for me...

I am feeling much better...I even ate..no soup...I made omelettes...I feel quilty when I am sick and it is cold and me and the boys do't get to do our usual stuff...only took me like 30 mins. to recover from cooking so I say I am healed! To school i will go! Besides...big road game tomorrow...I even get to leave early so i can make the boy's game!...darn...I don't think we have enough boys...kid went to Colorado because of sick relative or something...this isn't gonna be good...

I don't want to risk it with these two. They have decent type and Thelma has very nice lacing. It is hard to get both type and color on one partridge hen. Aparently these girls aren't too smart though. They had a sister that drown herself hiding under the coop in those heavy rains we had this summer.

They will get down in the dark and go in by themselves?

No they won't but I am tired of putting them up so they can just stay there. I have never seen a chicken off the roost unless a critter has them stirred up.

I use to worry & go out & move them in & all that stuff but now I am pretty much like you. There is plenty of room but you choose to be outside.

Here I am...awake..and folks are going to bed...

Maybe I shouldn't have slept all afternoon...but I feel so much better!

I have a d'uccle hen that has sat outside all day in the blowing and cold...even the ducks went into the coop and they aren't the brightest creatures i own...
