I never saw the ad, but usually those willing to let the goats become a source of nutrition are willing to sell them in some way. You are right, "gifts" usually have strings.

Need to go finish chores. I fed and watered all but the big rabbit barn before stopping to fix supper.
Kits are due tonight or tomorrow for 4 does. I gave them nest boxes last night, but need to check and make sure they haven't tossed all the straw out of the box. It is supposed to get below freezing tonight.
Added something called Sweet PMZ (I think) to the chicken coop this evening before covering the floor with a few inches of fresh pine wood shavings. I called the manufacturer of the product from the feed store, since it is advertised to keep horse stalls free of ammonia odor. The person I talked to assured me it would be fine in a chicken coop. I hope it helps. It will be awhile before it is warm enough and before I have time to totally scoop the deep litter from the chicken coop. When I do, I will add the litter to the compost pile we like to give away to friends and neighbors.
The person who brought their tarp lined pickup truck by yesterday for a few front-end loader scoops of compost asked me what varieties of manure were in the pile. Rabbit, chicken, horse, cow, rabbit. . .
