So how much are you willing to pay for NN hens?
I need to know before I go to the next auction.
I wanted to go tonight but Basketball practice got in the way.
Are you going to Mary's in the morning?

I am not going to acknowlege my ceiling price

- but I cheerfully paid $15 per hen at Fletcher and had to pay $16 for them this evening. I thought that $15 was my ceiling for anything other than a blue NN hen until this evening. The one with speckled feathers sure is cute.

I bought 3 nice 30 x 30 rabbit cages at Harrah 2 weeks ago and didn't have to pay "enough" for them, since they were in good shape and were made with good quality baby saver wire. I called the auctioneer this week and he contacted the folks who brought the cages two weeks ago and they brought two more of the same quality but a little smaller this evening. If I average the price for all 5, I still got a good deal. I had told the auctioneer what I would pay for more of the same variety, so he announced that they had been requested and started the bid with the amount I had indicated I was willing to pay. No one bid against me - fortunately.

A nuc is like a beginning bee hive. It typically contains 5 frames, consisting of 2-3 frames of bees, one frame of pollen and one empty frame of foundation for the bees to draw out for the purpose of storing honey or laying eggs. A full sized hive typically contains 10 frames. You start with a nuc and move everything to a full sized hive box and during a good nectar flow, the bees will quickly create a full sized hive with more bees and then you add a box on top of that with 10 frames of foundation and the bees add wax to create comb on that foundation and then the queen either lays more eggs or the workers start putting honey in the comb.
