wdmyers - I will have quail at POOPS if you are planning on attending...eggs, chicks, maybe even a few will be laying by then...It doesn't take long!!! I have several colors and sizes. I will also have some available to eat...both adult and unborn!

When I asked for cornish..................I am wanting birds that are "broilers"..........fast growing with in 6-8 weeks and to the freezer. What should I get. I would like to start raising them the 1st of May and butcher by no later than the end of July?????

Ate them stringy tuff birds last night and that is a NO go around here.

I can't believe all the new Okies.... glad to have ya.... wd...don't even worry about that avatar. Could be worse.. you could have a picture of a blob that really is a hen and her chick.... but no one can see it!!!

Dang this cold has me good. I have been in bed 2 days. Today I said the heck with it... I can feel crappy just as easy cleaning up chicken poop in the 30 mph wind as not. I have my hubby's truck today and I want to go give it a good scrubbing for him, but I am afraid of relapse... wind+water+germs=relapse. I'm not even saying I'm going to Cement tomorrow, because I know that will be the kiss of death....

Dang it... I was gonna let my babies out to play, but they would get blown all over...good grief...It has been windy for a solid week. And not just regular windy... but WINDY windy.

Ordered more chicks....(did someone mention addiction earlier?) So now I have 65 coming in May plus my 4 out there now. Hubby has agreed to increase run size (for the fourth time)..... I think I should just fence in the whole 3 acres?

Ok going out to play with hens and was truck and revive germs... Love y'all...

Henny I refused to let the cold get to me................I do feel better today, actually I did yesterday. Now get to play with the grandson tonight, that is PaPa's job they gotta go armadillo hunting. It involves blankets, flashlights and a mysterious scratch on the wall ever now and then.

Cornish crosses are the only ones that you'll be able to grow like that, anything else will take longer. Even the colored broilers.

I brine the meat of my older birds for a couple of days, then cook it in a crock pot. Very tasty and not the least bit stringy or tough.
