Sorry, Don
After I posted, I realized that you were responding to SRed98 so I went back and edited my post to remove you as a the person looking for food grade DE.

Food Grade DE is good for putting in the area where your hens take their dustbaths, because it kills mites. Some people add it to the chicken feed, as a wormer - but "experts" disagree on whether that provides a benefit.

I also use it to keep the fly population down. It is some sort of ground up pre-historic rock that has very sharp edges, which cut up insects.

What about a minimum charge per egg? Say... $1.00 ea or something like that?

An option for those of us who have projects and breeding programs and want to keep all of the chicks that hatch.

I agree. $1/egg is a little steep, but I'd pay $1 per hatched chick.

Those are good ideas, you three. I think if I was charging, it would be based on the chicks not eggs

fast question...
How do I keep snakes out ?
One just ate two of our Polish chicks... URRRRGGGG!!!!
I have lime, sulfer, geese, gunney, snake away.... you name it given to
me as an idea...
What have you guys used that work..?

Invite me over! I will catch 'em! Snakes are very hard to keep out...that isone reason they are everywhere and excel at their job. As long as you have openings you run the risk of snakes. Moth balls have anecdotle information that says they work...they do make a type of mesh that the snake will get caught in and then you can dispatch them.
