As a young imigrant boy LOL I learned my way around the kitchen at an early age as we did everything homemade back then, My grandma took the time to teach me the ole family secrets and I just happened to be listening. It seemed when I was a kid that everything worth mentioning was always done over a perfectly prepared meal that seemed to last for hours.

I think he is the only one that I would pay to see. The entire family likes him. The only one that did'nt go was my daughter and she is alittle young so she stayed with my mom & her cousin.

You are fortunate to have fond memories of cooking with your grandma and that you recall the lessons she taught you. I think it is sad that our society has gotten away from family meals and long conversations around the dinner table.

I need to set the glass down before I read a post from Stimp. I need to set the glass down, before I read a post from Stimp. (my new reminder to myself)

About 30 years ago I tried to cook a turkey in a microwave. Either the cookbook was overly optimistic about the cooking time or the turkey was larger than called for in the recipe, but it didn't cook very well. We finally went and got fried chicken so we could serve our guests a meal.

Nowadays it is my little way of relaxing, after a tough day I like to spend a couple of hours preparing dinner for my girls, then sit at the table and let the day wash away. I am never to tired to create something in the kitchen.

Your girls are fortunate that you like to cook. Earlier this evening, we had the discussion on this thread of this being a "I don't wanna cook" day.

My sister was fortunate enough to marry a guy who likes to cook and likes to cook healthy foods (not fried). We used to tease her that she needed to find a guy who either liked to cook or liked Peanut Butter and Jelly sandwiches every day, since that was her cooking specialty.

I am sure they made it home fine, they were probably just bushed, with that air force guy wanting to hit the sack LOL.
