So, what do you all think I should do?????? The eggs are only 1/3 way through incubation...

I would pull the eggs. There is no reason to take chances with the flock that you have so carefully put together. I am sorry that you have to make this decision.

I guess I will toss them, then

As stated, if they were the only eggs/birds I owned I would take the chance... but I just do not want anything to happen to my flock!!!
It's just sad because it is multiple dozen, and they were growing

Oh, one little thing to consider is......
That the eggs I purchased were not even from the same breed infected with MG, and also my eggs were shipped on 5-1 and the infected bird only entered this person's property on 4-18... so I do not even know if there was even time for the eggs to be contaminated???

Grace,
One option would be to hatch them, keep them quarantined, then get them tested ASAP. You would have to disinfect anything that came in contact with them. Then if they test positive, you would have to get rid of them, which would be heartbreaking. Just thinking and typing...
If it were me, I would still pull them.

Can you ship 4 month old chicks ?
Lady on here has 4 month old frizzle polish in many colors for $10.00. I would think that they are to old... What do you guys think....

The shipping would cost way to much, bevause the post office will ship older birds but only by express mail..Then you would have to get a special box..I know with some birds it can cost 70-100 dollars.. to rich for my blood

Jeez Grace, that really stinks ...

But you did the right thing I think. You do too much showing, selling etc. to risk it..... Sometimes ya gotta be tough...(remind me of this the next time I have to cull)

OK... I am still having turner problems... How fast should it turn... I assume they are pretty slow moving....Is it visible? Can I get another brand at Atwoods? Will it fit in my incubator? Just wondering if anone has info.... I'm starting to sweat....

The Little Giant turner does not fit in the HB!
Also, I once bought a turner that the seller said would be for parts only "because the motor did not work". Well, it worked perfectly for me

I know it is easy to mistake a broken turner for one that is moving at it's usual slow speed!

Thanks

Here is the way I looked at it -
I should destroy the eggs, if for no other reason than, the fact that I have a "good name to uphold" and I would not want people to worry about -my- birds!
It was a sacrifice, but it had justification......

I guess
