Hey Don, we may just have a class up here. At Mr. Kvittum's
seminar, when it came out that TJ was doing this, HE asked
TJ if he would show him how to do it. I guess, if you aren't
showing your cochins, you can clip all those "in the way"
feathers and they can handle it. But, TJ only has four show
cockerels and 7 show pullets in the cochins, so..................

Oh, this KID is a total hoot. He has helped dress every deer
that we have done, wiped baby critters dry, helped Pa-Pa do an
autopsy on a nanny goat that we lost, on and on. His science
teacher got a total kick out of that story...... We may just
have a vet in the works.

I'll do the deer, fish, etc., but this other stuff is not my cup
of tea.

Hey Ronnie- My daughter lives in Kansas,ok,just up highway 10. She said there are some chicken people setting up at the 10/59 junction selling chickens last fall and she saw some silkies there. Are they still having the big swap on the other side og Grove.ok .You used to could find some chickens there. They might have silkies.

Am also watching your posts about the NPIP class. I would
sure like for Bill to take the class, if he would be able by
then. We have our flock tests taken care of for this year.
As I recall from your posts, the class is $30, but have looked
in the Smith Poultry catalog and the test kit is $118, and
it also says that they can't ship the antigen to Oklahoma,
so assume that is something you would have to get
instate. But, that stuff is $75 per 1,000 tests, on top of
the test kit. Sounds like it could add up quickly. Maybe,
if you go through a new class, you get discounts on this
stuff. Will be watching for y'all to discuss the information
you get regarding these classes.

When I was looking on the Dept of Agriculture website for a person to call about NPIP testing, I came across the form for ordering supplies. It states that all Oklahoma certified testers must purchase all their NPIP testing supplies from the Department of Agriculture. The form lists a price of $61 for a 1000 antigen test bottle and $12 for a 200 antigen test bottle, with shipping of $17 for two day shipping (it has to stay cold)

We just had our birds NPIP tested today and we PASSED THE TEST!!!! Yea!

We're mailing the application & the $5 today.

When the tester called to set up an appointment, he asked how many birds we had & I told him I think around 200. So luckily he said he'd get someone to help test. Anyway ... 2 testers and they stopped at 300 birds. Gosh, I didn't know we had that many birds! No wonder our feed bill is so high.

We dont have many more adult birds actually ... we were on the last pens of turkeys.

T-shirt design - I like the one with eggs and I think chicken tracks and poo all over the shirts sounds AWESOME! I can't wait to get my t-shirt and wear it everywhere, well maybe not to church.

ask the oda when the last case of pullorum typhoid was in oklahoma, they cant tell you be cause noone can remeber that far back!

i do not know of anyone who has seen a positive reaction to the antigen. noone in the oda has seen one for sure!
