Well I survived the "Telling of the Hubby"! He was ticked that I charged on the card, (No charging in 2009) but when I told him it was for chicks he DID soften up. You could be right Teach... maybe he likes the little suckers more than he lets on! I had to order them now... good grief...still can't get 'em until May 6th.

20 Ameracaunas... and 15 Wellsummers. I am going to take my 2 Delawares, a buff cochin and an EVIL black sexlink to the auction. Good layers all... but I am redoing the south complex of my coop.... I'm going to brood them in there and then it will be their home. Don't have to brood in the garage this year! Hopefully all goes well. Hubby was even asking about the eggs... what color etc. The Big Sap! I am blessed...

Wow, I am so excited right now! I had been a bit down about missing out on buying that flock of Cuckoo Marans, so I made it up to myself by buying...... 2 dozen gorgeously dark Welsummer eggs!
So, last night at the Durant/Blue auction, I surveyed the hatching eggs (by the way, there must have been well over a 100 dozen hatching eggs there last night!). I instantly noticed a box of dark brown eggs! When the bidding got started, a man bought all 12 dzn. Wellie eggs for $10 a dozen!! Then, another man bought two more dozen at the same price. By this point, I was pretty disappointed thinking I had missed all the dark eggs..... about 30 minutes later, they finally got to the last box of eggs on the table and they were Welsummers! They got bid up to $10 something a dozen (again!) and two dozen sold, then at $9 a dozen 3 sold, and finally they ran them through again and I got two dozen for only $4 a dozen!

Oh, did I mention the fact that my incubator is already full

Well, I needed another one anyway!

That was all I bought besides two brooder lamps for $8 bulbs and all.

Okay, I've been thinking about our POOPS meeting... I would like some more input on the idea of the raffle table.
Since it is pretty well decided to have something alone these lines, would you all rather have a raffle table or a silent auction?

Silent auction is easier...don't have to have tickets just a sheet of paper! Possibly more folks could take part in a raffle...buck a ticket or so...lots would throw in a $10 or so especially if there were numerous things to win and we just called them off sporadically during the day...basically i can be agreeabe to either way...but I am leaning towards the raffle cuz then you don't really know what you might end up with and that is kinda fun!

Teach... how far you be from Amarillo? Are you going to that lady's deal at TSC? I have a Big Texan certificate that's burning a hole in my pocket.

Just a sidenote... my hens are acting really strange... seem spooked and restless. Checked for predators high and low... don't see anything... it's really freaky...

There isn't date...is there? I went back and checked??? heck yeah I am gonna go...more birds!!! well as long as it doesn't conflict with our swap!!! Gotta get me a POOP shirt!
