No, I figure those shells are permeable for a reason. I think wrapping them in plastic can be just as hazardous to the egg as mishandling.

OK Carla, I admit it I AM A HOARDER!!!! I am also a CHICKENAHOLIC!!! Have been for nigh on to fourty some years, got my first very own chicken when I was about 8, but loves them before that, I got 25 pullets in the barn brooder, 13 chicks in the rubbermaid brooder in the livingroom and just got 11 more chicks from my hatching buddy today and had to put them in an aquarium for now till I can move stuff around,,, My wife loves me alot, But please don't tell her I won all them auctions, she may make me sleep in the barn, ordinaraly that wouldn't bother me but it is cold and rainy out there and I am about outa hay, she is a whole lot warmer to sleep with too!!! Besides I could stop anytime I want too!?!?!?!??? Gnite all, I gotta go to bed before they put something else up to bid on I need, Lynn

I am scheduled to talk to some kindergarten students on the 17th about the poultry and the bees. I would sure like to buy a couple of poults to take with me. Packing ... each egg is wrapped in a napkin, then wrapped in small bubble wrap, then Gerald tapes a group of eggs together in a "brick" of up to 16 eggs. I then put up to 3 bricks of eggs in a large #7 USPS priority box and add lots of large bubble wrap around the bricks, making sure there is at least one layer of large bubble wrap along the sides and at least 2 layers of bubble wrap on the top and bottom of the box. I also put in large letters on all sides of the box: Fragile! Hatching Eggs. We always pack in the largest of priority boxes. I figure it's not that expensive to add bubble wrap or even crumpled newspapers for packing material. Oh, and we use recycled bubble wrap ... we found a guy that runs a computer business out of his home and he gets lots of bubble wrap from computer parts that he has shipped to him, that he saves then sells on craigslist. It sure is a lot cheaper from him, and we are SAVING THE ENVIRONMENT by recycling!!!

We spend lots of time and energy on the eggs, but it sure is worth it to hear back from people saying they had their best hatches ever ... some even say they had a 100% hatch! It really feels good. It almost makes it worth spending 4 straight hours last Sunday afternoon helping Gerald pack 9 boxes of eggs that we then drove to the Oklahoma City Airport Post Office.

It's a hobby .... still not making enough on eggs or chicks to pay the feed bill, but it has its rewarding moments. I just wish I had more time to just enjoy the critters than rush around every day to feed & water before having to go to work.

OK, now I'd better get off the computer and get some housework done before I crash in bed.

Grandbaby alert! My daughter learned last week from the specialist that she was seeing that the fluid around the baby's belly which was causing great concern has all disappeared! They no longer think there's anything wrong with the baby! She (Ashlyn Nicole) already is estimated to weigh 8 lbs, 6 ounces as of last week, and should gain about 10 ounces a week til born. Her doctor will most likely do a c-section because Ashlyn is still breech, and because she is so large! Big girl! Yeah, when I had my daughter 29 years ago, she weighed 9 pounds, 3 ounces and I was convinced I was going to do it all natural childbirth ... Gave up those thoughts after 36 hours of labor & demanded anesthesia!

Anyway, plans are that they will schedule a c-section by April 15th if she doesn't go in labor before then! Woo Hoo!!!!!

Great news about your grandbaby Carla, pretty name. April 16th is the day my daughter has her ultra sound to determine sex. They want a boy, I want a grand daughter.

I kept seeing rooster and I am like what is up????

Going to set the another hatch of eggs tomorrow, so we will have new chicks at POOPS.

I sure hope the lost posts thing is a joke, I really liked trusting the info from those w/ more posts.

Morning all! Glad to see the Mods are having a great day! I wonder how much work it took! It has got to take some work to change words like chicken to duck and egg to rooster and cow to horse and person to fool and...I am making stuff up at this point but curious to see if anything got changed! Me and a roommate once changed rooms with our other roommate...took us all day! We set his room up as a mirror image of his room...he didn't appreciate it...until we actually pointed out the fact that his room was set up perfect and we were in boxes and on the floor! Did I mention we were moving in like two weeks
