For the question about pasty butts... I don't use a very "official" method, but here is what works for me:
Get a wet-wipe and wipe off their hineys, if this does not work, gently pull off what is stuck on
Do this every couple of days for a week and voila, clean!

Well, I sold my only Call Duck pair today

I had really not even considered getting rid of these cuties, but there was a lady who was very interested in buying them when she came to my home town from four hours away to buy a dog from some other person. I did not actually have a reason to get rid of them (except for the fact I can always use the pen space!), but she was very willing to pay my top-dollar asking price. So, I went with it.
Anyway, just thought I'd let you all know

Can you tell yet if it is a pulet or a cockeral? I am definately interested in purchasing it if it is a pullet.

I already have a maran rooster.

nnbreeder - will you have your stuff at POOPS to do NPIP testing? I would like to get the Salmon Maran Rooster I bought last month at the Jones auction NPIP tested, so that I can release him from the quarantine area.

Hi everyone, just jumping in for a minute then going back outside to feed chickens, work on pens and move some juvenile birds from brooders.

Along with lots of hatching eggs, chicks and turkey poults that we'll be bringing with us to POOPS next week, I'm going to gather a bunch of nice young marans roosters to sell for cheap to BYC Okies ... just $2 each. These boys cost me quite a bit of money this year, buying them as hatching eggs, from nice dark marans eggs, but I sure don't need more than a few roosters, we won't eat them, and if you're looking for a rooster that will make next generation's eggs much darker brown, these are the boys for you. We're going to put some in with our turken hens. People just love those dark eggs, at least our eating egg customers sure do. If you want to create next generation's olive eggers, put a marans rooster with an ameraucana or easter egger and you'll get olive eggers the next generation. Those military fanatics (including my husband Gerald) love olive eggers because the eggs are army green! I'm going to be bringing golden salmon marans, cuckoo marans, wheaten marans and possibly a few black copper marans roosters. What I don't sell, I guess Gerald will just have to fatten up and they'll be going in our freezer.

Well, gotta get outside now. It is beautiful weather today

I have a week-old hatchery d'Uccle that seemed a little bit "down" when I fed this morning. It just acted tiered and for the most part, kept one eye closed. To make sure it was staying hydrated, I held it to the water and it drank twice.
This evening, it keeps doing a motion that looks like a yawn. Also, both of its eyes are closed now..
What can I do!? This chick is very special to me
