I don't really garden. My yard is as hard as concrete and the roto-tiller that can get thru there hasn't been built yet. My wife grows a few roses and tulips but that's about all the gardening we can stand.

<just kidding. I'm takin' a trailer to drag along to pick up some stuff/supplies cause the back of the truck is supposed to be full of instruments...dozen chickens on top of a big bass or cello shouldn't be a problem?

Good night/morning all.

Ron White should have a mouth full of Taters all the time,I used to like him, now I just change the channel,,

On the garden area, if you want a good one fence it and let your chickens run for a month or so.. and it will me the best ever..

Good morning.

We got our beans in the ground and now the cukes, gonna put the maters out maybe today or sunday. Gotta go get squash and peper plants. I didnt get starters of them going this year.

We tilled our garden under last fall a bunch of times all thru the winter. Tilled again and again and again the beginning of the spring, left it open so the chickens could get in there and do their tilling. The bermuda is trying to grow up in there but we are pulling and pulling. We had a better lawn in the garden than out of the garden last year. Hope this year is a bit better.

Goodmorning all!

We fight grass in our garden every year. I try to DH to leave enough room between the row to till. My grandpa told us that and to use newspaper, has anyone done that? 2 years ago we tried to move the garden thinking it would be better. This year it is going back....I can't wait to have tomoato's again!

Yes I want to do the newspaper also but my smart old fashioned hubby just looks at me like I am and idiot. I even grew maters in hay bales last year. I had more maters on mine in hay then he had in the garden.
He wont let me buy mulch either. so he gets to weed.

poultryandbees - thanks for posting that site! That's the one I was talking about and I've been searching for it for a while now

Yeah! Bookmarked and ready for next time I need it.

Gardening - We gave up our garden space this year to have more chickens.... we have a couple tomato plants still and some lettuce, but it will be sad to not have more this year

I HATE bermuda.... Nothing stops it..... Do you all know that the crappy bermuda they sell here in Oklahoma is a nauseous weed in other states ?
I have a sorry garden and a pick axe..... Luvs2gardens garden sounds beutiful and tasty..

Last year hubby just HAD to have okra, ok one row not a problem. Grew very very good. Started picking and picking and picking.............well after about the 100th time in one day I counted them plants. 49 okra plants that HAD to be picked at least once a day if not more. I told the dear sweet man that IF he wanted Okra this year ONLY 4 or 5 plants. I dont even like okra. Well I might plant more the chickens and ducks like em.

Okra and corn are the next things to plant for us. I want LOTS of corn. But so do the crows. I might even start a salad garden today.
