Good morning, Okies
I got the quail transferred into the brooder and came back to see which eggs needed to go from the turning trays into the hatcher and kept hearing tiny cheep - couldn't figure out where it was coming from until I lifted the cardboard egg flat to make room for another one in the hatching tray and there was one of those tiny quail. I guess I missed him the first time since he had gotten himself under the edge of the cardboard and wasn't visible.

Anyway, I have all my eggs marked with the date they went into the brooder - but I need to stick a calendar on the front of the incubator so I don't have such a challenge trying to figure out which eggs get moved to the hatcher. Didn't I have this problem earlier this month? STILL need a calendar out there.

Gotta make her a seperate pen? How is she doing? She still in the top of the brooder?

Yea just for last night. She is so little and I dont want my big chickens to pick on her. Might put her in with BB and her chick, BB is usually nice but with her chick she might be a little prissy.

I dont think you have to worry about anybody picking on her. My red stars are the worst, they gang up and pick on the little ones when I first put them in the pen. She wasnt having no part of that. Red stars only tried once with her and they had enough.

I bet so. I do have a major problem with hawks and crows. they would pick her off real quick, so a nice pen for her for sure. She will get sunshine and ground to play in. I am thinking about taking a couple of the 6 week old chicks and put with her so she has some "playmates" They are bigger than her but should be ok. I have the stuff to make a pen just gotta put it together. Need to find the wire cutters and I am set.

Morning all!!
Had 1 chick hatch in the hatcher, several pipping, then my husband says "there's a chick!". I say "Where?". He says in the cabinet incubator. Huh? Apparently I missed a few eggs that needed to be in the hatcher. Had 1 speckled sussex, 3 cuckoo marans hatch with 2 more pipping. What a nice surprise! The chick was pecking on the glass door wanting out.

My daughter was very excited to see more chicks. My nonchicken husband was actually interested and checking on them.

Hope the rest of the day goes this well.
Oh and if anyone has frizzles, I would be interested...

About the Braggs Mountain Buff chicks that are local to me....

Sooner, his add says he lives in Durant/Ada, and I live in Calera/Durant so we could be anywhere from in the same town to 30 minutes away. Pretty local, either way
