Even here I have noticed a large amount of snakes. Maybe the wet spring triggered a large hatch?

Which reminds me do you have a compost pile? I found a bunch of snake eggs in mine a couple of years ago.

I'm terrified of snakes.... I have killed 6 so far this year... I now have Moth Balls all over the yard..... I bet I have put out 10 boxes of moth balls so far....

They don't smell that bad when there out in the open.....

It's the heat of the compost that hatches the eggs. Shoot if you put them in a bowl on the counter and the sun shines on them through the window they will also hatch. It was lucky we found all of them.

Les, that is just scary!!! Do you know what kind they were? I probably would not even know what they were!! Mike is worried that there are eggs or babies somewhere....these snakes are monsters! I'm used to the little garter snakes and small gopher (bull) snakes we had in CA...you were lucky to find anything 2 feet. Everything out here is 3 ft. or bigger. The guy who lives next door routinely finds 5-6 ft. bull snakes in his wood pile....I just went and checked on mrs. BO... she has all her chickies covered up, but I'm afraid to go to sleep!!!

Morning all.

Going to a family cook out today and cross fingers here, going to pick up some peafowl eggs. Not sure where I will put them tho.

Got all chicks into the brooders outside now. Get it done to do it all again in 2 weeks. I probably have 250+ chicks now and another 192 eggs in the incubator.

Yes, that was the plan. I've not seen her in a few days myself. I can meet up with you sometime next week? On Monday, Wednesday, or anytime Thursday morning.

On the turkens, I'll take all of the ones you don't want to keep.

Let me know how much I owe ya.

I sent Mikayla a message, so I will let you know what she says.
Oh yeah, we need to know a price on those Turkens.... Maybe $20 for the 5 I'm getting rid of....? Whatever you think is fair, I have no idea what to charge for these guys (they were in the high $3s at the feedstore...)

Henny -

I would not feel bad at all killing a snake. I know God put them here for a reason, but they can be here for a reason some place other than my chicken house or yard.

Maybe you can post a sign that says "Free eggs if you don't bpther the chicks and chickens!"

Morning everyone. Sounds like everyone is off and running. I have lots of chicken chores today. I have figured out where I can put my broody without alot of work I hope I don't upset her when I move her.
