Sorry I didn't see your post in time to look for you! I was there in a peach colored t-shirt at 2:00, but I only stayed for about 30 min. It was surely hot yesterday!

We didn't even get there 'till about 2:00!
It seamed like a well-run show, but it surely would have been better with a/c ---hot--->

I moved the last of the chicks out of the house/brooder to the coop brooder. Don't think they need the light on right now, will turn it on this evening. Now to get everything ready for the quail to hatch next week. That way my husband will only have to retrieve them out of the incubator in case I am in the hospital. It is HOT!!!!!
Too hot for me right now.
Hope everyone is having a great Father's Day!!! Stay inside in the a/c.

Cleochick - get the truck out and go for a nice (60 mph) drive
up 5 miles of gravel road.....LOL My second one was a July 20th
kid, too.....LOL Toooooo hot for this !!!!!! Hope that little stinker
surprises you....soon..........

Gees, am sooooooo glad Father's Day only comes once a year !
We foundered around here last night on our early dinner, and
then, ended up going to his daughter's today....and did it
again. But, I shouldn't have to cook anything until at least
Wednesday..........LOL There's no way anybody could be hungry
before then...................

Have a good one !

Still sick....

But no fever or headache! YAY! I can work throught the rest of it! Got out and cleaned coops and got everything organized. Turned the sprinklers on for the hens....they are out there paddling around in the cool mud...I told them if I didn't know better, I'd say they were ducks!

I have a question.... I know this sounds a little odd... but Mike and I were having a conversation recently. I told him I was going to cull a bunch of hens and what I thought were little roosters.

Mike said it was ungodly to cull birds just because you don't want them. I told him it wouldn't even pay for our gas money to take them to Cement and eventually they would make trouble since we have a gazzilion of the little dirtbags. I was wondering what you guys think.... I think he is being kinda picky, but the Bible says God hates hands that shed innocent blood, and I have always thought that meant animals too, since we are accountable to Him for His creation. Just curious.

Gonna be a hot week Okes...saddle up...!

Cooling off finally, just got a heat warning for NE OK, said it will be a heat index of 115! good grief, how do you all keep the chickens cool? mine are having enough problems with the heat at 95- fans going and frozen bottles in the coop, hopefully the run will be finished tomorow and they can be out where there is a breeze...

Good Grief....Thanks for the heads up Robin. Will watch the
10:00 news..... Two of the greenhouses get direct sun in
the afternoon and evening....We'll have to rig a Plan B for
those temps !!!!!! We have taken about 4' of the visqueen
off the sides for breeze, and have shade cloth over the tops,
and have done fine, so far. But, a heat index that high is a
"whole 'nuther ballgame"..........For People, Too !!!!!

Take care everyone !

Hows everyone been, i havent been on to post for a little while. Ive lost 4 silkies to what I can only guess was the heat. This sucks. Im down to 5 blue 1 white silkie. They seem to be doing fine though. Lost a turkey poult my wife couldnt grab, he got in the wood pile while i was cleaning out the brooder and aint seen him sense. Ive decided to clean up the incubators and put them away till next year. Weve probly hatched 150 chicks this yer and gave a ton of them away. It feels soooooo odd not having them going. But I do have 2 hens in 1 nest. I just hatched some of theres out of the incubator and some of them look like silver, cute little feathered leg bantams. They where suppose to be brahmas. The roo with them looks like a brahma but the hens are whatevers lol. They are still cute and i enjoy seeing them when there not broody. They tend to eat hte cat food off the porch.

got about 50 new babys hatched today out of 15 dz so far got rir, americanas.cuckoo marans an some crosses an 1 little duck lots of pips in there forgot to add my boys 3 bantam americanas they are cute little bearded babys
