I know Oklahomans have had their share of the heat this summer. We finally got a short burst of rain here in Haskell. I hear thunder, so more is one the way. What a blessing.

This is the first rain for the chickens in one of our pens. They are just over four weeks old. I'm glad I had my camera with me, because the rain inspired a new rooster to sing. He sounded like a mouse gargling, but I guess he will improve with practice.

Maybe we should name him Gene Kelley.

Cute pix Pollo!! How hilarious... none of my cockerels will give it up yet, lazy bums. I think they are afraid of my roosters kicking their tails!

Sean you need to talk to my hubby. He refuses to buy that stuff...we fight over it whenever we talk about insurance. I'd rather have too much insurance than not enough.

Well Merangue is still with us. She's eatting again, but she's still having difficulty walking, it's nerve racking to watch her try to stand, and when she does get somewhere close to standing she topples ove like a baby learning to walk and I have to pick her up and move her back to her food and water.

I haven't had this experience, but have read that coons do this, as well.

I'm blessed with a wonderful protector dog. Seems she is tearing out the back door in the middle of the night after something almost every other night. I would seriously consider adding one to my protection mechanisms if I didn't already have one.

I'm depressed. The heat is really getting to the hens. My orps look pretty sad. I think one may have had a heart attack. Put the mister in the coop with a fan and they all piled in there...hens, peeps and all.

I got my ceiling patched, but it sux... need to sand... I hate doing these celilings... I wish I could texture them...Oh well, when I am rich...HAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAH.....

just maybe I have one to replace the one he lost.

P&B's How are ya!!
Roscoe P. Bunny has moved to the goat pen. He loves all the room to run and play and he is getting HUGE!! He hides under the goat house in the cool dirt til it cools off in the evening then he comes out and plays with the chihuahua, ZZ. I will try to get pictures tonight.

Slightly,
Since Roscoe P. Bunny is on the ground with other animals he is getting wonderful exercise, but will need to be watched for coccidia and wormed on occasion. Give him hay and some apple cider vinegar in his water to prevent the coccidia and use ivomectrin to worm him every few months. Glad he is getting to be a big boy and that ya'll are enjoying him.

I really hate to ask for help, but I guess I have to...

I had found a place to keep my birds, but come to find out, that person is having to move.

Is there ANYONE that would be willing to have a relatively small flock of show birds in their yard? I would be more than happy to care for them on the weekends, or if you're close enough to the AR border, I can care for them every morning or night!

I just need someone with some space and a love for birds that I could trust to keep them safe while I'm away. I'd be happy to pay a small amount, allow you to have some of my birds and be more than happy to give advice, eggs, chicks, etc. All of my birds are friendly, not ONE of them attacks...EVER. Several go broody, so if you have children, it is a good "lesson".

Please let me know if you know of ANYONE!
