Well I am totally bummed. I called the lady selling the chickens to let her know I was on my way and she had already sold them.

I guess if it was meant to be it would have worked out that way. Huh?

On the good side that leaves money available for the auction in Blanchard next weekend.

Oh baby yeah! I might even go to the Lexington auction if they are going to have it. Heard that they canceled it last week because no one came because of the heat.
So who all is going to be at the Blanchard auction next week???

Oh I have a joke for you all I heard awhile back that I think you all might appreciate.
This city guy decides to move out to the country to make a living at farming (Ok that is not the joke

) He goes to the feed store and buys about 20 flats of baby chicks each flat had 50 chicks in it. The feed store employee asks the city guy what he was planning to do with all those chicks. His reply was he had 20 acres and he wanted to raise chickens. The next week he comes back and buys 20 more flats. Two days later the city guy comes back to the feed store and wants a refund on all the baby chicks he bought because all the chicks died and the feed store had a 30 day refund policy. The feed store employee is stunned and askes what happened. The city guy replied I am not sure if I buried them to deep or to close together but the stupid things just will not grow.

Crazy great weather day , it was 89 and felt like 60 worked on the condo and didn't even break a sweat. crazy how 89 can feel so good after having temps that make the planet Mercury feel like the north pole LOL. My garden even looked normal today everything standing tall and looking vigorous, instead of all wilty with curling foilage. I hope everybody enjoyed the day as much as I did, the girls are still here having a ball, I think they have me talked into taking them to the lake tomorrow.

Heya Big Al

Glad ya had a good day... Mike and I sat on the tailgate of his truck, had a couple of beers and watched one of the best thunderstorms I have seen yet. Low base and right over the house....Thunder made your ears ache...I loved it!!! I had the best time....then it started raining and we all went in (hens as well)!!! We ran like crazy, Mikey leading the way!!!

How did Alyssa's party go? Was that this weekend? Teenyboppers everywhere!!! Wish her a happy bday for me....

I ordered wheaton Ameraucana eggs to hatch when my sis is here.... I'm jazzed....Maggie would be proud!!!

Yeah... you can bet your hind end that come fall I'm going to the auction with ROOSTERS! That much is for sure! Gonna get choosy, come fall... probably keep hens and that's about it... they are all doing good so far...OEGs are GORGEOUS!! I have some knockouts.... Mutt pullets for eggs...etc.... It stays jumpin' over here that's for sure....!!!!

You have sure come a long way since last summer, your getting to be a pro at this whole chicken business LOL. How old will some of these birds be in the fall??, you may want to try your hand again at processing those young LF Roosters before they get 16wks old. How's Mike doin has he kept his whiskers through all this heat??, I plan on bringing some birds to the Cement auction in August or Sept. My new layers I hatched this winter are almost ready to start the dance so the older hens will have to go along with some sikies, I did process a barred rock hen two weeks ago that was struggling pretty bad in the heat, she would not have made it for another hour so I did the dead. She was very tasty, after brining and aging she hit the grill and payed Homage to the BBQ Gods.

Anyone heard from TJ's NaNa lately? I know i aint checked the board quite as often as I should be here lately but was hoping to ask her about some eggs if she has any. I think i found a guy with a good supply of guinea eggs in Wagoner also so im keeping my fingers crossed on that one.

OKROBIN, I just caught the tail end of a convo but if you lost one of your silkie boys ill have plenty before long. I should have at least another 15 chicks or so by friday when they are old enough to sex (like i know what im doing) your welcome to pick out as many extra roos as you want.

Evening All Had a busy day here! Loaded up some birds and went to a new swap in nearby Kentucky. There were lots of setups but few buyers. And once the buyers started showing up I got shut down! Stete inspectors showed up. Since I didn't have a Tn. NPIP license they said I couldn' t sell there. He watched me sell tow chicks to alady and then told me I couldn't and why and said I had to give her money back and take the chicks back. Wasn't ugly but just kinda sour. So I loaded up left dodge! As I was leaving they were writing up another lady,don't know if she got mouthy or why they did her and not me.I knew they had the law but just never expected it to be enforced at this swap. Its way back in the hills in the middle of Amish country.
So I left there and took the rest of the birds to Layfaett,Tn to an auction,unloaded,went home,did chores amd wife and I went to eat Chinese and catch a movie.Then went back to the auction just in time to see my birds sell! Not good but not the worst prices. I bid on four crested runners. I really wanted them but I quit at $52 and they brought $57! So I ended up bringing no new birds home today!
