Hows everyone doing? I wasnt suppose to work today but my boss needed me to fill her shift. So now i get to stay home the next 2 days and think happy thoughts with my little stinkers. Starting cutting grass last nite and it started raining, when i was done the rain was also, go figure. I got a wyandotte hen here laying some extra large eggs, im loving it! I hope these orps I got growing up will be big egg layers.

For projects I got 2 lavender and 6 split/black lavender orpingtons to work with.

Hello everybody!!
Had a really good day. Uli and I had lunch with my daughter. Don't really get to see her as much as I would like to with both of us working full time and her going to college. So I really value the time we do get to spend together.
Also stopped at the casino on the way home and left with $25 more then I went in with. Considering I made $35 Sunday, almost paid for those peachicks I bought at the auction last Saturday. Yeah!!! Actually I will probably spend it at the Cement auction this next weekend. Man I am so addicted to chickens.

So someone was talking about what are plans for our flocks are. Mine is to have the biggest variety of cool and interesting birds. Color, configuration, size all that is what I want to diversify. Eggs are for eating only since the flock is so mixed. I am hoping to get a breeding pen set up so I can put together pairs or trios to get a few pure breeds of the chickens I like most, to sell the chicks or eggs. Of course the bourbon red flock is really my main focus. I have as far as I can tell 3 toms and 7 hens. Next year I am going to buy more poults from several of the hatcheries to diversify the bloodlines. My goal is to sell poults and eggs. Since all my birds are free range I am sticking with the bourbon red turkeys only.
Of course eventually my peafowl will be old enough to breed and lay eggs and then I will sell mutt peacocks and eggs for cheep, cheep.

The whole free range thing I just can't bring myself to pen them up.
Still looking for some blue and/or black americanas, polish crested (silver laced, white crested blue and black), as well as some sultans, white, partridge and splash cochins, various colors of frizzles, and salmon favorelles. Still on the fence about the cuckoo and salmon marans. The really dark eggs sound really cool. I would especially like some with feathered legs. Love me some feather legged birds I have to admit!

I am not sure I want to hatch eggs anymore. Not sure if I am doing it wrong but my hatch rate really sucks. We'll see what comes up next season. I may invest in a different incubator. Not sure right now. Money as always is an issue. The birds are my hobby since I do not party, or play video games, heck I don't even have tv reception let alone cable, so my birds are my entertainment. Of course reading all the post of BYC is pretty entertaining as well.
Speaking of entertainment I need to go feed and water mine.

I have been having internet problems lately my broadband provider told me my tower was one that got a lightning strike, so my connection & speed stink. They said it should be fixed soon Yeah right !!.

Charley : I am jealous that brooder is fantastic, are those feeders on the front ?, how did you happen to snag that beauty ?.

Henny : I really like your new nest boxes, your birds are looking healthy & happy, I know what you mean about the Eggs, I quit selling mine- too much hassle.

side note sold some hens but now I just feel bad...
Poor Big Duke lost all sorts of women....You all rember all the bad luck we had with the snakes and stupid hawk. We couldnt keep chicks alive now I just sold them.....

they did a good job at tick eatten and kid holden... dang... And Monty one of thoes crazy polish keeps running away. Like far away...acres away and now its gone. Think its sitting on some eggs. This one is beutiful and I hate to lose it...

Well let me just start by saying...I flunked that test i said I didn't do good on...re-ttok it and passed! Yeah!!

I put together a couple folders of stuff. I think I have a couple ulcers now! I worked a Walk To Emmaus...very uplifting event. Spent alot of time on my classroom...almost done!

Been to Atlanta...lost a bunch of birds...anyways...I am alive!
