Okies in the BYC The Original

Atwoods does the 'hang-the-bird-upside-down' method of sexing. Don't trust it, and don't let them do it to the birds. *haha* Do you have pictures of the banties you have left? I'm curious what they have that would be so tiny.

Have you ever found anything on ok4free? I see stuff sometimes, but can't ever get hold of anyone! OEC's monthly newsletter always has listings, and the Shopper Topper usually does.

I'll try to take some pictures tomorrow. The only thing I've gotten from Ok4free is a dog for my elderly parents! He is now the spoiltest dog in the world!!! I'm always seeing something advertised, but I usually never call about it. Right now I have so many things to get built and done that I really need to just concentrate on what I already have!! But when Atwoods gets their birds in, I'll probably be sucked in to get some!!! I seen some silkies there last year and why I didn't get a few is beyond me!! I really need to expand my pen and get rid of about 5 or 6 roosters first before I even think of getting more!!

Hey our Okies in the BYC list is up to 37 including a few adopted Arkansans that live near the border.
So here is the deal. I would love to see our list hit the big *50* by lets say February 14th, Valentines Day.
That gives us a month to add 13 people. So tell all of your chicken friends and lets see how many Okies or close neighbors we can add by then,
If you have someone sign up please tell them to mention you when they do their first post on "OKIES IN THE BYC ! There might even be a prize for the person that recruits the most new Okie members.
Our border neighbors in Arkansas, Texas, Kansas, Missouri and New Mexico can sign up as well.
Monty

I'm east of Jay, almost to the Arkansas line. Hay, how about adding me to the Okie list? I don't get to read this very often. If I had more time, I'd be on here all the time. I have an assortment of standard & banty chickens, turkeys, ducks, geese, and guineas. Talk about a feed bill, I've got one. LOL. I may have missed something, but I've read the list of all these Okie posts, and I didn't see any from the north east corner. Oh, I feel so alone.

Waaaa... I know... I know... Grown men shouldn't cry. That's ok tho, I feel better now.

FYI. Someone was asking about swaps earlier. There is one every 3rd weekend of the month and all holiday weekends starting in March. This is in north east Oklahoma, about 6 miles north of Grove, and 4 miles south of Afton on Hwy 59.

Country you should have seen the teenie Millie Fluer D'Uccles that Monty's friend had they were to awesome. I was such a good girl we got back into Shawnee and I almost made my husband turn back around. This guy has tons of birds. Mostly bantie and game but some very nice SQ standards that were just too far out of my price range.

I'm so glad you went to look! But you didn't buy any!? He said he'd bought from shows, and that just about everything was SQ. I shouldn't be spending any more on anything extra. But my husband-to-be will have to buy a bull soon, so I figure its only fair. *haha*

Angelo, The guy you are talking about., is quite a character. He has a lot of contacts around the country that are show judges and the like. He told me that he went to South America and picked up his original Araucanas and brought them home on the plane with him. That was several years back though.
He has hundreds of birds and Cammie is right, they are almost all show quality.
If he had someone close to him that could help him take care of his stuff he probably wouldn't be selling them.
I wish I was a little closer.

Grace - I love the way the birds look that peeps7 is selling, but he told me it won't be until March or April until I can get any. And I bet it will be later than that, and they're alot higher than I wanted to pay for eggs. And you are closer, and I know and trust you. *haha* I answered your e-mail, just let me know!

Do you have pics of your Millies?

Monty - When he told me why he was getting rid of them, I was really hoping he was closer to my area. My Dark Brahmas came from someone in a similar situation, but I don't they'd ever been taken care of very well.
