Well, I made an appearance at the introduction section but, in case you don't get over there much I will say hello here too. I am The barn swallows hubby and we live in Elgin. We are building our coop and my plan is to make it "better" than Al's!!

If the temp stays low enough this weekend I hope to get the roof done and able to get the birds in there VERY soon. Although when the coop gets done there is about 250FT of wire to get nailed up.

Wish us luck!! Glad to be here.

By the Way in case you dont get it... the Cook-e is a small funny bru ha ha off our last name

Our last name is COOKE said as in COOK but alot of folks say cooke as in cookie which it is not... so Jason decided it would be fun to put a spin on the last name

Well I had a whole huge post typed, and it went bye-bye...

I met a woman at Grady County Fair's poultry show this morning. Her name is Crystal, she was wearing a BYC shirt! But sadly, she is only a lurker. So Crystal, if you're reading this, join up its free! And I would like to know how your birds did.

Monty - Bantam Cochins, can we put that on the wish list? Preferably Blue, Mottled, Birchen, anything unusual. But I REALLY want show quality, or close. I'm finally goin to start showing.

Jason - Welcome to the board! So glad to see a spouse on the board! If only all of ours could be so enthusiastic. lol

Oh! I came home late last night after fishing, hadn't put the duck in her pen yet... And a big owl was perched on the back gate, where Ollie is kept. And the porch light was on! I panicked, ran to the yard shooing away the owl. Ollie didn't answer me for a while when I called her, but when she saw me she came running. I will definitely be putting her up at dusk now.

Not enough of him left to take a picture....but.....y'all that have
young'uns that help with the birds, especially at dark, after all
this rain....heads up for the snakes !!!

TJ hit the door hollering "copperhead"...Pa-Pa took off after him
with the shotgun and the snake catcher.... Kendra had all but
stepped on the thing and it hit the side of her boot..... Bill
strung out what was left of it and it measured exactly 36" and
was 2" in diameter at it's widest part. That's a BIG copperhead !
And, they hang out in 2's............ Yup, boots for everyone......

I have a couple of PM's out, so will post the tentative list of the
Jr. BYC'ers that are showing their critters in the morning. If your
young'uns are showing this fall and you're not on the list, and
are going to be at POOPS, give me a holler. We don't want to
miss anyone. I will need a count by Tuesday after Labor Day.

Have a good one !

Well, the guy at Atwoods in Claremore could not tell me what breed their peeper pullets are. Was wondering if anyone who may have bought pullets from Atwoods might have an idea? They had brown ones and black ones, I bought 15 brown fuzzybutts.

Here's a photo in case that might help.

My wife does not know yet because she was not home when I arrived.... I wonder if I'm in trouble

The brown ones I got at Atwwods last Spring were RIR and the black ones were Black Sex Link but they were banded.

Hey Jason good to see you made it on the board, so if you really want to build it better than mine it's pretty easy, don't make a plan, throw a bunch of wood together, hope it doesn't fall over, stand back and admire LOL. good luck on the wire I hate doing wire.
