Al you are very correct that some have names related to what they do...the rollers do just that...they roll out of the sky or in the case of parlor rollers they roll across the ground...tumblers tumble out of the sky...high flyers go straight up...homers go home...I don't think this is going good..I am about to talk about lahores but well they are just neat

The others have names associated to where they were developed

let me see all...I will tell you the breeds i have

I have rollers bunches of types here...most related to a person or place

lahores - big neat bird that markings are very important on

Indian fantails - from India kinda look like a turkey in strut that is my pic

West of England (WOE) - apparently from England and were once a performing breed

Kings - are a production and show breed (several brees fall into this catagoruy where you have a breed that is a large meat bird but then there is a show string that looks pretty but has lost some of the fast growth and easy breeding

Classic frills - or Ol' German frill...yup German and a neat little bird

You really need to go check out that one site they have pics..you would be amazed

Grace and Dandelion You girls make us all proud. Congrats on all the hard work.

I was doing a little research on the pigeons dachsunds is sending to Teach - Parlor Rollers - I read that mature birds lose their ability to fly! Really? Is that really true? There are a few videos on the internet that show these birds rolling across the ground - a long way! How and why did they learn to do that? Anyway, pretty amazing. And the sound they make is something else - a trilling rumble. I can't describe it.

That is funny daschunds!!!

I was actually starting to blank out on what all i had!

I have my buddy's German Beaty Homers which are one of the uglier breeds (to me)

There are the croppers (whould that be the right way to say that?) and the globes...anyways they have massive destinded crops...look like a bird with sour crop but are normal

there are breeds that have gotten their beaks so short they can't feed their young...

By the way...Monty...if the guy has golden black winged archangels...I want them

City there are "talking" breeds...some have been selected for their voice...really wierd stuff....those rollers can go a long way!!! They have divisions and stuff and certifications for them so they have to roll so far and then they get awards and you get to strut around thumping your chest cuz your bird can out roll your dog..

city look up trumpeters or laughing pigeons

I don't know which was harder, raising those birds for the past year, or getting them all caught and transported to the fair
