While yes it is hunting season and such and the cold makes such things more enjoyable...I still don't like the cold! No big hunts this year...apparently I have enough at the taxadermist's place!

Do they sell higher on craigslist than at auctions? I've noticed people ask for quite a bit more there than they would likely get at an auction and have always wandered if they actually got what they were asking for.

Most of the time yes. Usually depends on the breed. I can sell my Wyandottes on craigslist for $2 to $3 a chick. And this batch is mixed. They are RIR crossed with Silver Laced Wyandotte, I usually can sell mixed chicks for $1 to $1.50 on craigslist.

That is good to know. Thanks.

I know what you mean. I was the one that wanted chickens, and after the first 2 weeks of having them my husband was all about adding to the group. He goes out and feeds most of the time. Now my biggest problem is getting him to leave them alone so the will lay an egg. They are his buddies! He talks to them and visits with them and checks in on them at least 15 times a day. I bet they are wishing they had more privacy!

Morning all :

Got back about 11:00 pm from the Blanchard auction, I had a great time as usual visiting with all my good BYC buddy's, I spoke to Buster who was there with his brother and was on the hunt for componants for his serverbator, I think ole Jim has the auction bug. Sjarvis and her Hubster Carl were there we all sat with Stimpy & his lovely bride Lou, The jarvis crew had a good time ribbing me about my dance moves and choice of skirts which I didn't wear to the auction, didn't want to be over dressed LOL. They had their eye on some really nice Golden Laced wyndottes it just so happens someone else wanted them more. I enjoyed Visiting with Carl he knows his birds. Of course as many of you know by now it is always a treat to sit with Stimpy for a few hours and swap lies and funny stories, he has a bunch of good ones LOL. I was able to bring Kieth a good looking Hen we traded for at POOPS and he seemed really pleased with her and he has high standards, and yes CityBeth it just so happened to be white LOL.

The auction was over by 10:00 pm and I thought it was OK and on the surface ran well, quite a few birds for this time of year and you could certainly tell that folks were shedding allot of their stock before winter. I didn't see anything I had to have even though I was on the lookout for any FooFoo hairdo birds for Laura & Alyssa. I did have a chance to visit with Micheal, he sure is one nice guy. Jerry seemed a little frazzled at the pace being shorthanded and all, heck Stimpy and I even seen some very young boy's teaming up to carry cages into the ring, they made good hands.

I need help. I have a pullet that has a swollen eye. I need to know what to give her. I have no clue what caused it either. I took a pic with my phone, but it's not very good. The whole side of her face is swollen. She can't open her eye. I was able to pull the eyelid back a bit and didn't see anything stuck in there. I would appreciate if someone could let me know what to do. I will have to go to town to get something for her. The only place that will be open right now is Atwoods. Is there anything I can get to help her there?

This is really slow. And I need it to be faster. This way when my hubby tells me I need to work outside I can tell him I dont want to be rude, I have to stay on BYC and talk to the Okies. Its my way of getting out of working in the cold!
