Hey all had a productive farm day went to worship service with the family, picked up more paint at wally world(to paint the exterior of the coop), but instead of painting we worked a lil more on our wood shed since we were kicked outta our house to air it out(we bug bombed before we left for worship service and came home to the lovely bug bomb smell)

right now our daughter is giving our two cats a flea bath so we can move them into the house for the fall/winter to hunt mice that are trying to make home here...

Who ever donated the 4 month old EE hen to the Poops Auction that I won ... THANK YOU THANK YOU(she was all white except some black colouring on her) I named her Cruella De-vil since she reminds me of the chick on 101 Dalamations except in this case the HEN is so SWEET... I Love her

Man-O-Man have I been getting hen pecked since I got home today!! Night before last we were outside after dark and heard an owl out back in one of our trees. I went out there with my really big MagLight and tried to spot it but then it took off, ya shudda seen the size of this thing

it's wingspan against the night sky looked like it was 4 feet wide!!

Listened for it last night and didn't hear a thing. Well this morning I get a text from my wife while I'm at work, one of her ducks is missing. No feathers, no blood spots, nothing. I guess that big ol' owl just picked the duck up and flew off with it. Maria is fit to be tied!! And he remaining duck is just going off looking for his bud. Poor guy is now out there running with my 23 week old chickens, I think I heard him cluck....

Tonight he is going on lock down with the rest of the flock.

Had a juvinile Great-Horned owl get some of my free rangers a few weeks back. Those youngsters are sure not as pretty as the parents! The parents nest/live in a Cottonwood almost a mile to the West of us. I can hear them calling just after sunset each evening.

I will be at Shawnee and I don't care how deep it is...just remember if you get someone to jump in first and they holler it is only ankle deep...ask them if they dove in head first or feet first...I will draw you a picture City so you understand that one

I usually just have trios or quads in my pens and make a 4x8 tractor that is 2 feet tall. I figgered out tonight that an old window a/c frame/cover would make a good nest box if you added plywood to the bottom of it. This is for bantams.

I try to go 10x10 for large fowl with a doghouse as the nestbox.
