For those of you on the Hunt for Home Making Laundry Soap

Here is another recipe to making your own laundry soap... you can make liquid or powder... I do this too.. Walmart is a hit and miss with the Washing Soda you can sometimes find it in the cleaning isle not the laundry soap section

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

1 cup castile liquid soap (Dr. Bronner’s or Mountain Rose Herbs are good choices as they are organic and main ingredients are coconut oil & olive oil) OR Dr. Bronner’s Sal Suds
2 cups water
1/3 cup salt
1 cup baking soda or washing soda
vinegar

Warm the salt and baking soda in water until mostly dissolved. Transfer to a one gallon container. Add your soap fill the rest of the jar with water, this giving you 1 gallon of detergent. Use 1/4 -1/2 cup per load, depending upon how dirty the load is. Add a tablespoon or two of vinegar to your wash during the rinse cycle. This works as an effective fabric softener and disinfectant. Depending upon the hardness of your water, you may want to decrease the water quantity or increase the soap quantity.

Please note: do not add essential oils to your detergent. These oils will break down the fiber in your clothing. If you want a particular fragrance, try putting a few drops of essential oils on a rag and throwing it in the dryer. This will add fragrance but not transfer to your clothing.

Price Per Load: (ROUGHLY) $0.06

That was the plan, but dearest wife decided to fly solo because I wasn't moving fast enough this morning. Besides, the chores were beckoning. That's what happens when you keep putting them off. A pretty day comes along and WHAM! Chore City.

That's okay. I'm taking her out for dinner and an auction this evening. That should make up for it.

And boy am I looking forward to those free hot dogs!

So did you make it out to the farmers market this fine morning?

Al, I've got 7 Stimpy Rock chicks a cheeping. Try to say that fast 10 times!

One more has pipped and I'm waiting to see what the last 7 more do.

Here's a pix of the 4 "oldest" chicks resting in their brooder. Notice the one pulling guard while the others sleep. That's military training for ya straight from the shell. Stimpy breeds his chickens to be hypervigilant.

Hi all, first I would like to that City has a really nice coop, I have a recycled overhead camper for my chicken coop and the hens seem to really like it, as most of you know I do scrap metal and recycle anything I can get my hands on, I like the idea of getting a milk cow and have kicked the idea around also, we go through 2-3 gallons of milk a week but I also raise pigs and could utilize the excess milk for pigs and chickens, yes chickens like milk and it is a great source of protein and calcium for them, the only problem I have ran into is the everyday twice a day milking, as my wife refuses to milk a cow even once a day and I usually get up at 3:30 or 4 am to go to work any way, this creates a problem, I did milk a cow when younger and we raised up to ten bottle calves and kept the entire family in milk too, so I do know what a commitment it can be and in today's time it is hard to find and trust someone to feed and water your animals much less get them to milk for you twice a day. As you all know I work for Mercruiser and there is a day in my near future that I will not have a job as they are relocating my company to Fon Da Lac Wisconsin, I have considered a milk cow along with going back into the truck farming produce business again after they close, it is hard to work eight hours or more a day and milk and pick produce and take care of a animals and a farm and children and all at one time, I know there are lots of you that do this and I commend you all for it, I for one am tired and wish I could set back and retire (what is that, with a 4 year old to raise???) but I say hey if it works for you go for it, you and your family will be better for it, Have a great day all, Lynn

No I thought you said they weren't having it this wk (Farmers Market). I guess I will see you at Fletcher. Will you be buying???. I thought about bringing a Nice C. Marans Roo I have but then I thought of how inept those ladies were at the payout line the last time I was there. It took 30 min for just one person to go through and everybody said they had some sort of a disagreement when it came time to payout. I will watch this time and see if it is the same, if so I won't be selling or buying, I hate long struggling pay lines. I hope they don't run out of free hot dog's, Hey I will buy you a hot dog tonight LOL.
