I think that even if I was previously full of energy, Haikus and Diamantes' would put me to sleep. So glad I have finished my "formal" education. Now, the things I learn every day are fun facts and there generally are no tests.

Of course, don't tell Teach - but there will be a test on how many days it takes bunny kits to be born and it is a pass/fail test. If he gets the nest box in the pen at day 28, there is a good chance he will pass and the kits will be born inside the box that he stuffed with hay or straw and in which the mother pulled fur to keep her kits warm.

If he forgets the box, there will be hairless creatures cold on the wire of the cage and the test score is "fail"

Don't tell Teach, but sometimes you can add the nest box on time and the mama rabbit doesn't understand what it is for and kindles her kits on the cold wire, without any fur laid down first. Then the rabbit gets the failing grade.

faerielady-did the birds make it into the new coop? Their is a lady in CA that has MFC's in standard I believe. I was talking to her about them and if I understood correctly maybe 1-2 in a dozen hatched might actually be mille fleur patterned. That is quite a project.

I haven't been able to find anybody who was working with standard size MFCs. I know it's a big project, but there are quite a few of us willing to work with it if we can get ahold of the starter birds.

Yep, Blizzard, Cyclone, and Tornado are now in their coop. Well, the big coop with my other three pullets. I'll separate them as soon as I get the next coop built.

Congratulations to you and your son. You should both be proud. (Does he like your chickens?)

HAHA..not as much as I do. But he LOVES the eggs. He had a pair of OEGB's he loved to death but were killed by a stray dog last december. his little sister is my chicken-buddy. If I forget to take her to feed the birds I pay for it. The Gov of OK will sign and present the award....cool stuff

I realize this subject was hours ago, but I was gone all evening!

I can show anyone in this area how to make the 5 gal. bucket feeders if they would like. I have made all of ours. They are not difficult.

What do y'all use as the pan underneath? I have a 5 gal bucket that I bought to make a feeder out of, but no idea what to use for the bottom part.

Petey was a Pit Bull. That is how they looked before the idiots ruined the breed by making them smaller and overly agressive.

The most highly decorated dog in war time was a Pit, one of the Marine's Devil Dogs of WW-II. It was the Japanese that gave the dogs that name of Devil Dogs, they were highly feared in the Pacific Theater.

You make holes around the bottom edge of the 5 gal bucket, when you filll it with feed it allows the feed to come through the holes into the pan for the chickens to eat.

Morning ya'll.

What a great fact. I didn't know that.
