Teach, sorry I hugged Shawn...I am just fickle that way... Don't worry, you're still my favorite!

Was Monty leaving tonight or in the morning for his and Jared's hunting trip?

I really like those heaters Al - where did you find them? Or are they something you made? I am going to need something like that for winter, but I haven't seen any of those.

Dachsunds, I am glad you're getting to go to that sale! I wish you AND the Louisville sale were in Oklahoma!

Okay, sorry to jump on and off, but I am tired....Good night!

CityBeth : I can't remember where I got them it was 5 yrs ago, memory doesn't go back that far LOL, I think maybe the feed store, they were as high as a Giraf's ear that why i was trying to come up with something I can make for a little less. I think I can as you can see there pretty simple in design.

I agree! I'm close enough to Tulsa I could easily join others.

Good morning all. Woke up and didn't feel much better, but went to work anyway. Really can't afford to take the time off.

I'll be back in the corner, eating a donut that one of the attorneys brought to work this morning.

Engie Sorry we didn't answer your question last night.Sleep over took us!lol Pouters are a breed of pigeon, they have the ability to inflate theit crop with air and make themselves look much bigger. Kinda like throwing their chest out and strutting. Their are several varietys, pygmys, pommerian, horse thief, gitano, etc. You can look on eggbid under fancy pigeons and see some pics of them.

Good morning everyone! windy and warm here!

I have two Hovabator Genesis, and really like them. Haven't tried very many hatches yet, but so far, so good. A friend who hatches a LOT and has tried several, including the Sportsman, got rid of all but his Genesis(s) because of his success.

I raise them for meat and I lik'um!! I only raise Bobwhites because I like white meat, Georgia Giants and Tennesse Reds. If you decide to raise them you'll need a permit, contact your local game warden, he will have to come to your place and inspect your pens, fill out some paperwork for you to send in. A hobby permit will cost you $10 a year, a commercial permit will be $48. The commercial permit is only needed if you intend to sell birds or eggs to others.

What's a hobby permit for? I have Wood Ducks and I just got the Notice of Transfer or Sale of Migratory Waterfowl form from when I purchased them. I was told I didn't need any other paperwork unless I was to sell or giveaway eggs or birds. If I were to raise them to eat myself, I would not need a permit. Does quail fall under something totally different from the waterfowl?

I hope I'm not supposed to be doing something I'm not.

The hobby permit is required just to have quail that you are raising for yourself, for your own personal use. With it you can't sell or give away any birds or eggs to anyone, for any reason. The commercial permit allows to to sell or otherwise, but also requires very stricked record kepping and the game warden for your area can come and inspect those records at any time. If they are not in order he/she can take all of your birds.

My game warden told me that all versions of quail, bobwhites or not, require a permit in Oklahoma. Best to be safe, check with your local game warden before getting birds or eggs to hatch just to be safe.
