We also lost our house in ''88 to a house fire. It was struck by lightening right through my sisters window. If we had been home she would not be with us today. We were fortunate that our mom took us to church that night. I still remember one of my friends coming up to a couple of us kids and saying some bodies house just burned down. And for some reason I spoke up and said that would be really strange if it was ours. I don't know what possessed me to say it, but my grandma (actually she wasn't my real grandma, but an elder of the church we were really close to that my sisters and I called grandma) was right near by and heard me. When we got in the car for her to take us home, or so we though, she said she had something to tell us and I just knew right then it was our house and started bawling. Of course, I was probably most concerned about our animals that were at home. Our mom had to leave church early so our grandma was taking us home, but we were told she was called into work for an emergency or something. I guess they did this to not upset us during the sermon since she had to leave early, but it was actually because of the fire.

We lost everything, even our family pictures. Well just about everything, there were a couple of things that were salvaged, like the piano that my grandma and her family brought over from Germany and the animals (except the fish, they were a little boiled) made it out all right. Our dog, a boxer named Kiwi, was carried out of the house by a fireman which a local photographer took this picture and put it in our local paper. But we lost pretty much everything else, all clothes, toys, pictures, and most of the furniture. I was in fourth/fifth grade at the time and my mom was a single mom. But thankfully we did attend a good church and the whole congregation came together and helped my mom out a lot. We stayed in a house that was owned by the church until my mom was able to get back up on her feet again and find us a new house. I still to this day remember that Christmas, it was for a child one of the largest Christmas's ever. So many kind people bought us new clothes and shoes and some toys for us for Christmas to help us replace everything we had lost. I wish I had known who all the things had come from so that I could have thanked them, but they kept it all very confidential. Maybe my mom knew I am not sure. But it was nice to know we had so many people around that cared and wanted to help us out, I know my mom was extremely grateful and cried each time we opened a present.

One of the funniest things that happened while the house was burning - one of the neighbor boys, a couple of years older than my girls, started crying pitifully. I asked him what was wrong (it was my house that was burning, not his so I couldn't imagine what could have upset him so) and he replied, "They lost all their toys, didn't they?" Poor, sweet kid. The girls didn't give a hoot in holler that they lost their old toys - they were excited about getting new ones!

Oh that is so sweet of him though to be concerned for your daughters. That makes me smile! Kids can say the darnest of things.

Well I'm sitting here listening to a station out of Albany NY, classic rock. I find that they play a much better mix then the stations around here do.

Today I am going to try to duplicate breeder pens that I saw up at splitsocket's yard. I really liked their design. And yes I will take pics.

Yes Happy New Year !!
2010 will be much better then the last....
The next POOPs will be wonderful.
Im not sure if I missed someone..
What do you guys worm with. I have wazine
but it looks like their is something better..
2010 !!

Here is the reasoning to using Wazine for the first worming. It will not always get all of them.

What? How is this a good thing?

Glad you asked.

You see worms attach to the lining of the intestinal tract and feed on blood. If there is a heavy worm infestation and the worms all turn loose at the same time then the bird can suffer from internal bleeding and sometimes they can die from it. If the infestation was heavy then they already have the birds systems compromised and it often times doesn't take much to send them over the edge.

Are you making the rounded ones, or the A-frames? Both are really nice, and Richard does an excellent job of building them.

He actaully lives between Owasso & Claremore out by keatenville (might be spelled wrong?). I've seen his home, it sits on 640 acres fully chainlink fenced. He also bought another 640 acres across the road for his exwife and his girls. They are in a private school in Owasso. I've seen him twice in Claremore and if you were not paying attention you wouldn't even recognize him.

As for his personal and professional lives, don't get me wrong here, I'm not a religous man, but isn't there something in the bible about letting he who is without sin to cast the first stone? All we really know is what has been publicized by the media or passed around & rumored about by those who are suppsedly 'in the know'. I can't even begin to imagine living the life he has lived and couldn't fathom judging how he has lived it, I've not walked in his shoes.

I think this was very well said. Who are we to judge others, their lives, and their decisions. He may felt the things he has done was his best decisions, but of course we also all make mistakes.
"Judge not, that ye be not judged. For with what judgement ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again." Mathew 7:1-2

I prefer the faith I have now, as most of my friends here already know, I am a card carrying Heathen of the highest order LOL

I grew up in the Roman Catholic church so to speak and spent a few years as an alter boy when I was just a squirt.

Are your new boots purple or pink? That is the only kind of foo foo I can imagine

I am thinking them covered in foo foo silkie feathers in pink or purple!

Yeah I am probably referred to as the same. I also grew up in the Roman Catholic church as well as the Fundamental Baptist, and Lutheran. Then when I was in Basic I attended the Mormon church, it was off post and they had some nice goodies for us soldiers. Plus, I learned about a new faith. I do not claim to be one faith or another, just try to live a good life and be kind and good to all living things. Not saying I am perfect, just try to remind myself to be nice! I liked that quote, because I felt it was nicely said and it is just a reminder to us all that we should not always judge everything everybody does, because we don't always know what is going through that persons head or know everything they know. I am just saying.
