Yes, I'm a part-time producer at the new Arena and so far they've called me only to do home team sports. Most outside events/acts bring their own crews, so they don't need me - they brought me in for this because I'm familiar with some of the house video equipment they wanted to use. I need to remind them that I can also push buttons for the shows like Eric Clapton and Nickelback - don't just call me for the Bad & the Ugly - call me for the Good, too! (eta: In addition to hockey, I produce arena football and I hope they'll hire me for the pro basketball games for Tulsa's new WNBA team - the former Detroit Shock.)

I am so glad you told me this - I always thought Tractor Pulls meant real farm tractors, too! And I'm glad you didn't hold the first date against your DH!

LOL, some of them are real tractors you just need to check it out. We watched the old tractors pulling in Claremore. The smell was hard to deal with but it was cool to see the old Case & others pulling.

Man, those turkeys are some tough birds. Most nights they roost outside, but the past few I have been carrying them into the external garage and locking them in for the night. Last night I missed one. When I went out to water them before opening the doors to the barn and coop, I found a turk hen who had been out all night, wandering around the feeding area.

She had a layer of frost on her back.

Do I hear Strawberry Alarm Clock? Iron Butterfly?

(*Hennies cracks up at the thought of broodies passing a joint back and forth and blowing smoke rings..."Like Wow, man, these eggs are like...HUUUGGEEE"*)

I was thinking more like Moody Blues, Jefferson Airplane or even the Doors. I wonder if that would increase or decrease egg production?? Like Groovy baby!!!

Just got back from this morning's errands... had to take the girl to get her allergy shot, and since she begged to go to church this afternoon so she won't be coming with me if I get to make it to Blanchard. J's son is sitting on the floor, completely absorbed in watching the silkies in the brooder. The little blue with the neck issues is still alive and kicking, but doesn't appear to be getting any better.

Decisions, decisions. Do I clean the kitchen, or dig out my bedroom?

Good afternoon everyone!
Just thought I would pop on here for a minute or so before I tackle my next project (curtains for the livingroom). Need to get the curtains up because it is cold in our livingroom.
Made a pot of beans, cornbread, biscuits and gingerbread. Uli will be happy when he gets home today. We will be heading out at 4 to get to Blanchard. Looking forward to seeing everyone.
Tomorrow the forecast says 45 degrees, I may have to break out the shorts. Like everyone else I am really, really done with the cold weather and I totally feel for you Al having to work in the cold. Been there, done that

.
Well my sewing machine is not going to make these curtains itself. See you all soon!

Hey everyone,

Had a late night but it ended up being a good thing... Kids and I watched Prince Caspian and then they went off to bed so I popped on to Hulu and watched a Documentary on Aileen something or other(she was a serial killer) anyhoot... its a lil past midnight and I go to lock up the back door and I open it to do a quick peek and what do I see... Our 3 geese and Duck just chilling on the back patio as if to say Hey lady arent you going to tuck us into bed?...I was like what the hey, I guess there was miss communication between the kids as to who should have put them up for the night... So I grabbed my carhart and walked them over and put them into bed... Of there was a moment where I had to hollar at the 2 Embdens and Duck (Mia our chinese goose follows us like a lost puppy) they decide to walk under the coop and chill and I am like listen here its not the time to be stinkers get over here and get in the pen.... and they do after I toss something under the coop to shew them out... Once they got into the pens boy they were sure all talking up a storm at me.... lol I am just glad nothing got to them...

No Go on The Auction 4 Us : And Al If You See This: Yep We Will Be up Late lol

This is a big THANK YOU sent to BigOkie37 for becoming the adoptive parent of the four homeless roosters I was keeping for a student's grandma. BYC members are OK!

My brooders are full. When's the next POOPS? If we set a date, or at least pick a month, I'll be able to see my way to the end of this awful weather. I don't mind having to put on coveralls and a hat, but I do mind not being able to talk to my chickens because my cheeks and mouth feel frozen.

Quenston - The Salmon Faverolles are doing well. The boys have been moved to a bachelor pad by the horse trailer, and they seem to be handling the change of scenery. The hens are happy. The little lady who had received extra attention from the boys has lots of new feather growth. She's really sweet and sits on my knee when I'm in the barn. The hens are crazy about tuna, something I've added to their diet to increase their protein intake, and they are developing a taste for warm oatmeal. If you decide not to keep your SF hens, let me know. I'm starting to think that the Salmon Faverolles are my favorites, next the the Barnevelders, and the Speckled Sussex, and the Brabanters.... right. How can one pick a favorite?

Al - I've got a construction question for you. How does one remove exterior latex paint from indigenous Oklahoma rock (the nice red, brown, and tan rock used on many houses in Oklahoma)? The previous owners of our rock farm house painted it, all of it, including the hornets nests. Is sand blasting necessary? Would chemical paint removers work better? I don't want to damage the rock or the wood siding, which is why I'm asking about sand blasting. I'd like to restore the rock and stain and seal the wood. Is this something an inexperienced person like myself can do, or should I hire the work out? I'll have the time this summer, and I'd like to do the work myself, but I don't know anything about removing paint, beyond using a scraper and a sanding block.

Time to make the rounds to be sure all the heated water dishes are working. One quit last night, but it came back on this morning, so I'm concerned that it may have a bad heating element.

Hello my fellow Okies! Sorry I have been off of here for a few days and now am playing catch up. My daughter Charlotte's Birthday is tomorrow and she didn't have school Thursday so her friend from Ballet in Tulsa came and spent the night Thursday night, bcs her friend already had school canceled. I still don't know if they didn't have school in Cleveland on Friday or not, but to be honest I was in total shock that there was no school Thursday. The roads were just fine, no precipitation and I didn't think it was that cold that you cancel school. Not saying it isn't cold bcs I am staying inside trying to stay warm, just didn't seem cold enough to cancel school. Anyways, we figured if they weren't have school because of the cold Thursday our assumption became the same for Friday. However, my DH did have school in Mannford which is not that far away, but it did seem to be everybody else in the area was out of school. So now to wrap up my rant, I have been entertaining two 9 year olds the last couple of days. Today we are figuring out what we are going to do since we had to postpone Charlotte's Birthday party.

Do you have a CDIB (Certificate of Degree of Indian Blood)? Choctaws have higher education programs and career development programs that help with getting Masters & above.

Unfortunately, no I do not. I am almost full German with a little bit of Norwegian and then some French and English way back in there mixed with my German (100's of years ago or so). My family is still very new to the US. I am the second generation here so I do not have one of those handy dandy Indian cards. A lot of my friends do and they get free medical and all kinds of benefits. Me for now I just have to suffer through and hope I don't get really sick or anything. I do need to figure out some sort of med ins though soon, bcs I need to go and have a check up from some previous conditions, I am a few years over do for them now (I know not good). However, teachers do not get good benefits for their family.

Well, no auction tonight for me. I'll be up late, watching a real football game.

Y'all have fun. I'll be thinking about you braving the cold while I sip a Coors next to a roaring fire and watching my Cowboys beat up on the Eagles for the third time this season.
