My friend asked me about Christmas time if I was ready to place an order for the nest liners (we order in units of 40 at a time to get the best price and she only needs about 15) and I told her that I wanted to wait - since the past 3 years or so EggCartons.com has had a free shipping promotion at the end of the year or sometime during the first two weeks of January. I did like you did a few years ago and even though I knew there had been a free shipping promotion the year before, decided it wouldn't be repeated and ordered the nest liners just a few days before the promotion came out. Be sure you are on their mailing list. They also have percentage off promotions during the year (but for the heavy stuff the free shipping is usually a better deal)

Thanks for posting this, Graceful. A friend and I have been waiting for free shipping from EggCartons.com so we could order some nest liners from them. Without free shipping, they are expensive to buy. This is also a good time to buy any egg cartons we might need this coming year. I love free shipping from this company.

Yah he thinks it being hollow the cold air going thew it had something to do with it. I had game roo"s that frozes to the top of the barrels that they wer tied to a few years ago wen we had that ice storm a few that didnt go in. I took hot water an poord on thim to thaw thim out . One had his tail feathers pull out an that was about it. They never showd any sines frost bite.

I just wanted to say the people at Ideal Hatchery are really nice. As those of you who read know all 5 of my dark brahma chicks croked with in 12 hours yesterday. I called yesterday evening and left a message because I wanted them to be on the look out for a potential problem because I do not know what caused all 5 of the chicks to die. They called me back first thing this morning which was surprising and I talk to several really nice, friendly people. I Did not expect it but they are refunding the money for the 5 baby chicks, even though the chicks were 5 days old.
So in a couple of weeks, when I get paid, I will be ordering some more chicks from them. I have a full order of 25 chicks but if someone needs to order a few let me know. Here is what I am planning on ordering. Standard Dark Brahmas, Mottled Cochins, Salmom Favorelles, Sultans and Birchen Cochin. Later I want to get some MF cochin, D'uccle (blue and porcelain) and when they come into season Bourbon Red Turkeys. Not exactly sure where all of these chicks are going but I will figure it out.

I have had a migraine for a week now. It is why I spent all day Sunday in bed. I used to be able to get rid of them with a hot bath, but that doesn't help now. If you have any clues on a good remedy, let me know.

And now poultry related:

Is there anyway to tell which duck is laying? I am getting 2 white and 1 green egg everyday. I have five female ducks and am just wondering which one's have started laying.

Quenston - you make a very good point about the need to indicate that you are willing to be an organ donor. His death was untimely because of his age and his family will justifiably grieve for him and their loss of him. Since he wished to be an organ donor however, other families will be able to spend more time with their loved ones because of his and his family's generosity.

Are all the ducks the same age? Can you catch them? You can tell when a pullet starts laying by vent checking her to see if the pelvic bones have spread out to allow the passage of the egg. I would suspect that ducks are similar in that regard. You also could isolate each of them and see which ones lay an egg during their isolation. Of course, changing their environment will probably keep them from laying more than the one egg for about a week until they get readjusted, so you need to decide how important it is to know what each might be laying.

Shavon,

I don't know how you're set up at home or at work, but switching to LCD monitors sure cut down on the number and severity of my headaches. Might ax your doctor about it.
