I am always trying to find a better way to prepare rabbit, so the meat isn't dry or tough. Do you have any suggestions? I have just been cooking the tenderloins because I can't seem to get the rest of the rabbit tender. I have tried letting the meat "rest" for two days in the refrigerator after butchering and have tried it baked (good flavor but a little dry) and tried marinating it (probably works the best but haven't found a marinade that hubby likes) The tenderloin I just cut into circles, brown and then turn it into rabbit alfredo or something similar.

Marybeth.....my mom used to season, flour and then brown in veg. oil until right at done. Then she would put it in a baking dish, cover it and put a very small amount of water in the bottom of the dish. Then bake it slow for about an hour. It was so tender and moist. We loved it.

P&B- try marinading it in with a little vinager in the marinade. Vinegar is a natural meat tenderizer. Less than a tablespoon. I alway cook with just a touch in the pan as well.

Is he positive that they are Mallard, or could they be Rouen. If he had Rouen, I would definitely jump on that!

P.S. thanks for the well wishes. The migraine is a side effect of my allergies and the ankle should be fine by morning.

Do you have some medicine for the migraine and some ice for the ankle?

Thank you for your concern.

I thought I had some Excedrine Sinus, but I can't find it. I know I bought some at Thanksgiving because we were on our way to dinner when I purchased it. I took some Advil and am just going to go to bed and try to sleep it off. I'm allergic to the new puppy and she is a house dog. I have been forgetting to take my allergy pills, so it is kicking my butt now. I realized what the problem was today at work. I was bending over and then standing back up repeatedly while moving some old files and it suddenly hit me (in the form of a really bad migraine spell in the store room, about fell over and passed out.)

I don't have a clue what I did to my ankle. It isn't swelling, but it feels sprained or twisted. I didn't put any ice on it because of the lack of swelling. I decided to try a hot soak and it helped some. I'm hoping the heated bed will help even more. If nothing else, I'll be in lala land and not care at all.

I am allergic to everything with feathers or fur, as well as all grasses, dust and most pollens, so I have to keep all furry animals outside and take my 24 hour allergy pill in the morning and my Singulair at night. My allergy headaches turn into tension headaches, so I have learned to stay in front of the allergy headaches because they are easier to get rid of than the tension headaches. You are correct - sleep is sometimes the best way to get rid of a headache - maybe because the muscles in your neck relax and the tension part of the headache goes away.

I really want a couple of hens, but I have no extra space because of these roosters. I am going to try to bring them to Fletcher this weekend, but I'm not sure I will make it. I wish Roy had remembered to come by last weekend.

Artsy Looks like a pair to me. The one on the right doesn't have the narrow neck hackles of a roo like the one on the left.

Boy Michael,I'll bet someone jumps on those mondern bantams! I would if I was close enough! Teach will proably be interested in them !lol.

NN was wondering if its alright to dub a grown bird,or does it have to be done when they are young>

Hey ya'll duck lovers, I got an email from Ideal poultry today that says:

"Early Season Duck Special

Our ducks have come into production early this year.

We have Buff Orpington, White Pekin, Mallards, Blue Swedish and others all available over the next 3 weeks.

Regular price for 20 ducks is up to $3.73 each depending on the breed you choose. All st. run ducks, assorted or specific breeds are currently $1.60 each, with a minimum order of 20 per breed. Buy Now "

I clicked on their website, but I don't see where you can choose a certain breed. I guess maybe if you called them they might honor the email? Anyway, $1.60 each seems like a great price.

By the way, I resisted the urge to buy ducks today. It sure was tough.
