Disclaimer: your have found a wonderful group of folks, some of whom are addicted to poultry auctions, hatching eggs and buying poultry. Since addicts tend to be enablers, we may try to "enable" you so that you too acquire an addiction to poultry auctions, hatching eggs and buying poultry.

So, what kind of poultry do you have, what kind would you like to have and what kind of questions do you have regarding poultry in El Reno? We can also help you find the city ordinances for just about any major city in Oklahoma.

BINGO! That's what I need. I've tried looking online and can't find it. The neighborhood I'm looking to move into allows all animals expect pigs and chickens. (Chickens are up their with pigs?! seriously?!) Thinking about moving in and buying 40 donkeys and waiting for someone from the city to beg me to get rid of them. My reply (I'll get rid of them if I can have 5 chickens) Haha.

For all you Okies....Any place around OKC area to buy chicks? I'm gonna go to Atwoods today and peck around.

Thanks for the kind welcomes.

Atwoods and the other farm store franchises (Orcheln's, Tractor Supply) don't have baby chicks in the Spring until around mid-February, and they usually have them again in September. I know there are people here on this Okie forum who hatch babies year-round...it's a sickness and they can't help themselves. If you post what breed you're wanting, there may be someone on here who has them.

Of course I'd much rather buy from someone local and avoid buying from a mass breeder. (I feel the same about my dogs....always from the pound or rescue - dislike puppy mills personally) And that's much of the reason I'd like to have some hens, to not buy eggs from the store from chickens in pens to small and cant move. (I buy organic free range eggs now, their cost an extra buck or 2 but gives me a peace of mind).

I'm not picky - if anyone has any chicks for sale that are hens I'd consider it. I'm just looking for a combo of three things in a chicken - some what pretty on the eyes, friendly, and a decent egg layer.

Feel free to contact me at [email protected]

Other then that - I may have to be a BYC Outlaw (lol) because moving on to some land had becoming for self sufficient is my goal. It's going to start with some chickens and some fruit trees I hope.
