I've got several jars of my homemade jam left in the cabinet... I make a couple batches of strawberry rhubarb & mixed berry jams, and my brother in law gifted me with some apple butter.

But what I *don't* have is any loaf pans.

I might be in love...again! That is my all time favorite cobbler. The jam has to be as good. I have little old ladies that make me apple butter...I don't want to look stupid so I haven't asked them how they milk an apple yet

We have loaf pans! Road trip!!! Check that...looked outside...wait....got a Donald Duck or a bantam malay buck?

Teach you are a mess!!! Faerie you need to hit some of the thrift stores & get some loaf pan cheap! I go to a catholic thrift store with my mom everytime I am in OKC. I always find some jewel that I can't live without. I also collect a certain glass pattern that I use as serving dishes. This year I will be looking for canning jars.

So far...so good....here in Tahlequah. Has been raining,
but we were managing to hang right at 34o. Is sleeting
now, so who knows before morning. But, so far, we
have power and all is well.

TJ just brought in a bag of pellets from the porch and
said it's sleeting, but there's little white flakes in it.
If it changes over to snow, we'll be fine. Go figure.....
all this gasoline for the generator and both trucks
are diesel.......................... On second thought.....
Na-Na is going to the lake this year.......gasoline for
the boat motor !

All of you around OKC and Southwest, take care and
stay safe.

hey P&B thats some awesome taco soup!! thanks!

Well it doesn't sound like to many are haveing problems so far. Except for those without electric who can't report in. They are still calling for snow here tomorrow. They have shut down almost all the schools in the stste.Even those in countys that are supposed to get only rain!I may be wrong but usually when they really build a storm system up,it usually peters out when it finally gets here. Never the less I did some more winterizeing today. Turkens had stopped laying, then I found their nest they had hid!Been saving eggs, although not for sure how fertile these first ones are. Have a few in the borrowed incubator but they are blue and I cant't see inside them!If we make our trip back soon I will proably bring some if anyone in the eastern part is interested in some. No charge of course.

Teach do you have the only ducks in the panhandle?Talk about cornering the market. You should be able to set your own prices when you get some for sale! Are any of your pigeons nesting? Mine finally seem to have gotten over what ever they had. The auremycin must have worked. I have several roller babies and one pouter baby. The pouter isn't feathered out yet so it is in the critical stage if the temp drops bad.

It is cold and there is all this silly white stuff all over the place! There are alos puddles from the doors to the fireplace and a large pile of clothes there and a really irritated mom type person.

We've been lucky that our power is still on. Less than a mile away where many of my relatives live, has been out for the past few hours. Luckily, they all have a fireplace and firewood and oil lamps.

I guess we need to keep our fingers crossed that our power stays on.

We probably have around a hundred eggs in the incubator and 3 brooders full of chicks in our living room. If our power goes off, we'll get the fireplace going and Gerald said he'd get his army truck going ... he has a converter in it with one plug-in. I think the incubator gets the plug-in.

There are a few other ducks but don't know of any other call ducks! I have a couple squab that I am a little worried about...they are getting fairly good feathers so I thing I am okay. Had some WOE on eggs but they abandonded them. My frill backs are well very active! I think I might be getting some American Pouters! Special color of pomeranian pouters?..anyways...guy in CO developed them..they have ash red, blue and white on them...

Glad to hear things are good

I know it's only January, but in March I'm going to need to tap my BYC friends for some show girl and silkie hatching eggs. I need to set the hatch on March 23 to be sure the hatch begins and ends on a school day. My sophomores are writing a research paper beginning March 22, so for those who have expressed an interest in chickens (they offered me money for my POOPS shirt), I've decided to bring an incubator and a clutch of eggs to class. I'll bring in all my chicken books and point them in the right direction for Internet research, but I'll need a few surprises in the incubator to make the experience memorable for my rock-headed boys who think there's a Kentucky Fried Chicken ranch somewhere with free-range breaded fowl. I've got half a dozen girls who have brought notes from their moms saying they can keep a silkie or a show girl if we manage to hatch them, so I don't want to disappoint. The rest of the hatch will be from my pure breed groups, and my mixed pen (for those who are writing about crosses and genetics), so I'm covered in that respect.

I've graded so many research papers in the past that were a compilation of cut-and-paste text from the Internet that I thought it was time to do something that was actually doing and observing. Some of my students will be researching sex-linked characteristics while others are going to try to explain why we don't see a 50/50 split of males and females (Hah! Math Geeks are united on this topic.) I have quite a few students who have never seen anything being born, so they will be concentrating their research efforts on understanding and documenting the final stages of the hatch. If you've got a topic we could link to the hatch in March, let me know. We'll be using documents from the OSU Ag Extension and the Texas A&M Ag Extension as references. If you know of any cool web sites, post a link or send me a PM so that I can start compiling a list of resources.
