what do silkie look lie and do they produce a bunch of eggs? are they a good investment bird like resale of chicks?

They're more popular for ornamental purposes... there's some breed info here on BYC , as well as just googling. They are excellent mothers.

TJ's Na-Na :

February 20-23 - Snow storms - with 5 to 10
inches possible........... Heaviest in Oklahoma.....
Surely the stupid thing won't be right again........

Come on spring !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Noooooooo.... I'm holding out hope for the online version....

TJ's Na-Na :

Faerielady - Reading mine out of the book.....Hope
your "online" deal is closer to right !!!!!!!!!

What I love is that there is the Farmer's Almanac and the Old Farmer's Almanac and they are sometimes similar and sometimes way different. The Old Farmer's Almanac says it is the "original" so I guess it is the one that goes back to Benjamin Franklin. I find it amazing that anything can be accurate when predicted more than a year in advance - when our weather guessers can't be accurate predicting a week in advance with the most current information from computer models and wind currents and temperatures.

Both of you let me know one thing for sure. I need to get my roof fixed ASAP. I went up less than a week ago with rain and freezing rain. I got one of my friends to go up with me to try and seal it. I'm sure that will be the last time she offers to help. She got 1/2 way up the roof and latched on the window eave and wouldn't move. I had to drag her back down when I was finished.

She said she had never been on a roof with as much pitch as mine has. Funny when the "brave" ones get afraid.

That is seriously funny! Anymore it isn't even worth the effort to check the weather.

There is something about the thought of freezing rain and the concept of "slip and fall" that would make me reluctant to get up on any pitch of roof when the roof isn't totally dry.

I consider forecasts to be educated guesses and keep an umbrella at my office and in my car at all times, and an extra jacket in my car from September to June.

P&B - Just had Bill check - Yup, this is the "original"
almanac..........based on Ben Franklin's findings....
in 1818................. Gees.................

We had laid in 45 gallons of gasoline for the
generator and both trucks take diesel......
so guess we'll hang onto it.

Nope, I ain't gonna say "squat" about the
almanac anymore..........LOL

Have a good one !

Ok does anyone remember when I mentioned that I would feel lucky if the only damage from the storm would be my car mirror?

I wish that was all that has happened. Can I go back to last week and just stay there? I can deal with the constant snow and ice, if I could just forget today.
