Yeah, when we lost power, the incubator went with it. I lost 4 dozen eggs.

Well you have 5 new babies so far.... They are hopping out like crazy, I dont even think they zipped, just pipped and pushed their way out. I love watching them thru the window.

Okie Dokie Okie folks,

We will be posting soon with all of the particulars and specifics but the date for our spring event is

It will be at the Oklahoma City East KOA Campground where we have had the last two.
It is centrally located just off of 1-40 about 20 miles East of OKC.

Anyone wanting to rent cabins should make reservations ASAP.

Goodness, I was thinking of the power converter in the car idea but didn't foresee the ice issue. Guess the vehicles need to be considered for future storm preparations.

GQF makes two kinds of battery adaptors...one clamps to a 12 volt battery, the other plugs into the cigarette lighter receptical of your vehicle...one costs about $7, the other about $12...you can also get the cigarette lighter power adaptor for low wattage, 100w, 200w, with a regular 110 plug at automotive stores for about $30+ up depending on wattage. It might save your incubator for short term outages or until you get your generators going. My husband always procrastinates as LOOONG as possible before starting our generator because he doesn't like to clean it afterwards (plus it is hard to start). I am self sufficient for short term. The battery backup breakers like you run your computer on are only meant to give you power for a few minutes up to an hour...just long enough to shut things down...not to run on for very long.

With being out of electricity for up to 2 weeks, any kind of battery would be hard to maintain. Unless you used solar or wind to recharge? Most likely the ice would have frozen a turbine though. I have considered the solar panel option and getting a two way meter. I love the idea of not always paying a huge electric bill.

Yes, short term use, but long enough to move my incubators to someplace that DOES have power, or long enough to get an unwilling husband nagged into starting a bigger generator.

lots of snow here...lots and lotsof snow here...my pen is a huge mess!

We have stock shows this weekend and then like the next week and then maybe First of March...gotta wait and see...

We have plans!!! I am telling the mom!
