sorry Al...
Its been a long day here too.
I know all I talk about is me and my chickens. Sorry I have to do it again.
So I have that turkey sitting on her eggs and polish eggs. Count so far is
four turkeys and two polish that are alive and doing well. Two dead polish
were found. Today as Annabell dear chicken lover that she is put a pullet
from the brooder in the coop the momma turkey stood up and called to the
pullets to come under her wing. Thats when all heck broke out. Chickens flying
everywhere and the new two turkey chicks and one new polish chick (already
in above count) chirping flying everywhere. Now i need to fix this. So I watch
to see what happens. I think the dom polish roo may be the one killing the chicks
but really he may just want to roost... So I put up a divider between the momma
and the rest of the crowd as she will still have a back door. During all of this one of
the eggs get broken and it was an old one..

Why didnt I just take the chicks...??
I am a sucker I guess. It was just to sweet. Good mama.... Loven the big froo baby
like it was her own. So I have two turkeys and a polish in the brooder in the kitchen
and she has the same count. Yonna wants to see who can do a better job... i think
she is betting on the turkey..

Now as I climb out of the coop and close up the other coops one of the silkie mix
AnnaBells love is twisting her own neck to look up. I mean really really looking up. What
in the heck is this?? I felt her heck and checked her out all seems fine. Let her in the grass
and she did seem normal. But when i went to pick her up she did it again. Weird twisting where
it looks like it herts to do. She is alone in the barn in a cage now. Anyone ever seen this?
After a flat tire today in the middle of nowhere and the chickens my husband working 20 hours on our bussiness im tired and have a headache. Someone come shoot me and take the chickens
as i may just be nuts....

Yeah it sucks catching a spring cold I was able to avoid the flu and everything this winter, but I think my Imune system is a little low with all the hrs I ve been putting in, so it got me.

I am Hatching Light Brahmas, Standard Cornish, and a bunch of Laura's Foo-Foo mixes which include Blue & splash Orp's, Polish, Golden laced spitzhauben's, Marans, and some buttercup mutt's. They are really starting to pop out pretty regular now, I have to admit it's my favorite time, hatching season sure is fun.

could be starting wry neck, do you give your silkies vitamins? they tend to get vitamin deficiencies, so polyvisol infant vitamin drops without iron, giver her a couple drops on her beak twice a day for 5 days, also a vit e oil cap on her beak once a day- as a general rule i give mine vitamins a couple times a week in their water- do a search for wry neck... maybe someone else might have some suggestions-

Yeah Q taking it easy isn't in my vocabulary LOL, I wish I could. so we gonna swap some of our Brahma stock at POOPS, I'll make you a deal I'll give you a bunch of Rooster chicks and you can give me a bunch of Pullet chicks and we'll call it even.

AL

I didn't know you had such a variety Al. I thought it was just cornish and white rock. I sure am likeing my white rock bantam hens. Hope to find me a roo for them. Using the barred rock roo on them now.Wonder if I'll get delware looking ones or sex link ones! I'll bet those cornish standards are big ole babys!

I actually let the itty bitty ducks outside in the run today. Actually they are about 3-4 weeks old. They are going to spend their first night out of the brooder. They will be in the bottom of the juvie/bantam coop with a heat lamp. To cuddle with, they have three older ducklings, four Silkies, and two Seramas. They should be good. They really loved it outside. I believe I may have gotten lucky on the first three ducklings that I picked up this Spring. All three of them are getting brown chest feathers, so I believe they will all be girls. Amazingly, noone has any squabbles when I put the baby ducks with the others today. I am really started to question my birds. They are so nice to each other, it is scary. When the babies squeeze through the fence and get in with the adult birds, the older ones don't care. I've had 4 week old ducklings running around with adult ducks, chickens, and guineas. The only problem I have had is when the Serama rooster gets anywhere near the RIR rooster. The Serama gets really defensive and the RIR is like "eh, whatever." It is quite comical.
