J laughs at this, but I told him that ONE DAY I will own a Hyacinth Macaw.

I need to find out which ones are the coolest and talk the best, that's the one I want. then I have to get my hands one one. Will it be hard to find one ??.

AL

I know which one for you to get Al. My neighbor has one it is a grey something. I will ask her the name of them. I think it is called an African Grey. Anyhow, they live for 80 years and have a very wide vocabulary. They actually learn to talk and have small conversations with you. I get tickled at hers. He is at a kindergarten level, he actually will think of what you asked before giving you a response.

Ok, going to bed now.

Nope. I have talked to a guy in Edmond that has a HUGE aviary, he's a breeder. I'll find his info for you and PM it (may take a bit). He's a real sweetheart, I've talked to him on the phone about a year ago when I was looking for conures. I almost bought a rose breasted cockatoo off him, but came to my senses because cockatoos are needy birds and I'm not home enough for one.

Macaws and African Grays are good talkers, but bear in mind that any good talker needs a lot of interaction. J has taught my conures to sound like bombs and machine gun fire... not bad, since green cheeks aren't known to make unprompted sounds until they are a few years old, but highly annoying at 2 am. A water bottle cured them of the 2am bit.

That's most likely an African Gray. There are two types, Timnehs and Congos. Congos are larger, Timnehs have a maroon colored tail feather(s). They are like small children (yes, 5 year old mentality

) so they need a lot of stimulation. However, they are THE most intelligent parrot.

Well I gotta go take some medicine and hit the sack, 5:00 am comes quick, I still gotta go to the job site tomorrow and get things going there, then off to the Dr's office for Laura's surgery consult, then to buy a new stove, then back to the job site, then 10,000 other things too. Ya'll have a good night and rest well.

Al - the auction I am going to in a couple weeks has parrots....and conures....parroltes...and a bunch of them other birds....so...

I have heard the African Greys are the most intelligent as well...one of my classes did a deal on animal communication and one of the gals got onto the parrot thing....she said..i know I got off topic but these things are great....she found videos of them talking and such....it was great. By bro has some stories about parrots that you might want to hear about before you get into it though.

I am out as well....from now to the end of school (well...end-of-instruction tests anyways) is a mad house...trying to get that last little bit covered....trying to reinforce....trying to not make it look like I am a complete dufuss....even though I am!!!

I have been up for 30 min and absolutely feel like death warmed over, no sleep was up coughing all the usual flu stuff, I still have to find a way to drag my behind into town in about 2 hrs, I sure wish I could take more medicine and go back to bed !!.

Regarding these Parrots you mentioned that they require alot of care, what kind of things beside the obvious is it that requires so much care ??.

Can you get into to see a doctor today? If you have the flu, some Tamiflu would shorten the time you feel really lousy. You also don't want to develop pneumonia.

You do have to talk to them. And they will bond with you so it is better to get a baby and start there. But they do not like being left alone. My neighbor leaves the TV on when she leaves the house so the bird has something to do and hear, otherwise she comes home to a naked bird. When he gets bored he plucks his feathers.
