I had parrotlets before I decided to get conures. Cute little things, and fast! Not as fast as parakeets though... parakeets (budgies) were my absolute first birds, and they usually bite right at the quick of the nail... that's where I learned to wear thin leather gloves when it was time to clip their feathers and all that jazz.

However, I do think that people tend to forget how long they live, so if you HAVE a will, they need a place in it (i.e. designate where they go should you die).

And they will have to go to some one that they like as well as likes them.. Personality and all, they can not be left with some one they dont like.

An old friend of mine died a few years back. His Goffin cockatoo did not like his wife. Luckily he could "see" that, and left the bird to his nephew, who loved the bird and Gof liked him back. That's the ideal situation.

Most people I know who own birds, tend to leave their birds to aviaries. Personally, I've taught my mom how to take care of mine, but should she proceed me, they'll go to my oldest sister (the older twin, considering my sisters are identical

Gee Al you you should have no problem with the parrot. They need-interaction,held,talking to,attention,more attention,they are loud,independent,noisy. Hey you have a daughter,what could be hard about a parrot!Lol
Farrie,I raised parrotletts for a while. I really like them. Mine were breeders not pets but they each had their own personalites. They were really cool. I love the new color vareiartions.

The EDQ guy is here testing our Septic issues or whatever it is exactly he does in order for us to get a new septic... but from his observation of the home and the layout ... ITS NOT GOOD.... but I have HOPE for something better will come out of this....

on a side note: we may have our goats sold... part of our down grade so we can focus on the homestead and doing what we have to do to make it safe and livable for everyone....

That may also mean having to down grade our turkeys(what few we have) and geese... trying to get a hold of Jason to see what he wants to do... whatever we decide I will let you guys know as to give you the chance to have dibs if we go that route...

Just a quick ninja post to say hi. I am at work and taking a break. I will post the updated list for wants/haves as soon as I get home. I'd do it now, but it is on my laptop at home and not with me.

It hasn't started raining here, yet. I hope it doesn't we need to dry out a little before the next storm. The temperature is pleasant right now. I keep sneaking outside to enjoy it. It is starting to get slightly cooler.

New septic system here we come.. ha ha what a real party pooper I am huh dishing out all our homestead crap on you guys... sorry let me get the TP to help clean it up..

I finally was able to speak with Jason and He is a bone fide Turkey man so I guess we are keeping the Turkeys... ha ha

Actually do wanna say thank you guys for being kind to me and all my rantings... and I know its getting old...

But on the bright side at least we know what we are doing is trying to make the place a better house to be living in and want our home to be presentable and liveable for all the family and friends that do come across our threshold...

So again guys thank you for being my therapist (even though I actually have one that is paid for.. ha ha ha) but they dont have chickens

Jeanne, thats what we are here for. We all have things we want and need to "rant" about. If I'm not in the mood to hear someone elses problems then I'll skip over it. Hearing people help others usually helps my moods anyway. Rant away!

it has been snowing since....like 9 am....the ground is white...the vehicles are white....the streets are wet....it isn't this cold!!! I just kow my birds are ticked! wonder who will get killed today!
