I'm not totally positive about this, but I think there won't be a sale this Saturday in Cement because of it being Easter weekend. I vaguely remember the auctioneer saying something about it .... and I think they decided to cancel.

Anybody know for sure?

Check with Mike D. He stays up on all of the sales.

Also, Cement auction info: 405-320-3817

Bring them on Okla-doodle-doo, Peaches has been after me to make an incubator for her. Maybe this is my chance to try my hand at a 'hom-made 'bator'

A little tip here, never buy more then a 30 day supply of feed. Unbroken grains can be fresh and viable after 1000 years of storage as has been proven with grains stored in the great pyramids of Egypt and sprouted in modern times. Once cracked a grain looses nutrition from the moment it is cracked and will contunue to do so until consumed. Feeding older feed is like feeding straw, or hay that had been cut after it has went dormant for the season.

On all bags of feed there should be a date of manufacture and one should really get into the habit of checking that date so you can get the best product for your flock.

I was also told that the minerals and vitamins start to break down after a 30 day period too.

We had an eventful two days...

On Tuesday, I sat with a coworker, one of my best friends, in emergency half the day, where she was diagnosed with pneumonia. Really scares us, because this is the second time in a year or so, and last time we almost lost her. Her parents (both doctors) drove down from OKC to try to haul her back to Baptist, even though she was needing breathing treatments every 10 minutes just keep breathing, plus constant oxygen to keep her levels up. She made the mistake of telling her dad the doctors insisted she stay, at which point her dad starts yelling and heading off looking for the poor ER doctor. The nurse, an ex-cop, steps in front of him and tells him he is about to toss him out on his keester if he doesn't calm down, which mom promptly does and dresses her daughter down in a calmer but infinitely more painful manner.

Fortunately, my friend wisely resisted and stayed in the hospital. She was doing much much better when I saw her yesterday evening. Being the working fooll that she is, she convinced me to bring her some of her projects from work. I think it just takes her mind off of her scary situation.

During this period, someone apparently attempted to break into our home, and shattered the door jam and broke the dead bolt in the process. We didn't discover this fact till the next morning. Nothing was taken. The sheriff deputy says, "You got dogs?" and just nods his head when we answer in the affirmative. He figures the noise alerted the dogs and they scared him off, and I'm picturing the poor guy or guys looking up and seeing a mean black lab streaking towards them from the back pasture followed by 3 Great Pyrs, all near 100 pounds or more and who have the deepest, scariest barks I have ever heard.

A friend said on hearing of the two events ominously reminded me bad things come in threes. I'm not superstitious like that.

I got to work yesterday morning only to find out another friend and coworker had been burgled and assaulted in her home. She and her husband were tied up, beaten, and terrorized at knife point over a period of 5 hours in their own home. Somehow she convinced the perp to untie her, at which point she promptly stabbed him in the gut with an ice pick. He flew into a rage, beat her savagely about the face one more time, and then fled the scene.

Police arrested him an hour later. He was not in good shape. They said her bold action probably saved their lives.

My wife, who works at the police department, called me after reading the report and told me it was time for her to learn to shoot. I bought two more magazines and 300 rounds at lunch.

It has been a very rough week at the library. I don't expect to see either of my friends back at work for quite some time.

Buster that is horrible! Take your wife to the gun store and tell them to show you the lady line of smith and wessons. they come in several colors so she could match her outfits and they shoot .38's. nice compact...hammerless...great guns.

my father-in-law has been asking me questions about pistols...I am detecting a subtle rise in folks worrying about their self-defense.
