Yes about two weeks now. She is better but I can not put her in with the rest yet. They seem to pick on her and she does not roost
at all. The nice roo that I thought was a hen (show-girl) even seems to rough. So she is haapy to be in the brooder with the babys.
I carry her out side and AnnaBell walks her. Its all a pain in the butt, and if she has a medical problem I feel like crap not doing anything
about it. She is to kind to cull.... So I guess I may let AnnaBell buy her a diaper and let her take her to the park in a stroller.... Walk her..
name her.... Does this just sound weird to you all?
Poops is coming!!

So now I give up!

I did.. Told them the full story like the BYC'r say to do online.
The Office lady that runs the place kept saying "so she has a hole n HER head"
I have spent alot of money and time in this place. I then got on the
phone and called every vet I could find and I am still left with A chicken
standing on its head. To make matters look worse this is the same chicken
AnnaBell walks on a lesh. So the mail lady saw her walking this silkie cross
on a lesh and when annabell talks it puts its head between its legs... Mail lady
thought this was some trick chicken..

I have a friend that is a vet and he won't even let me get medicine for chickens.

Except for the fact that I don't raise or shear the sheep nor harvest the silkworm cocoons, I can do all the rest. Pick, wash, dry, dye, card, and spin, as well as either knit or crochet (but my crochet skills are weeeeeak). One day (when I have a much bigger house) I want to learn how to weave.

Wow... people pay that much for hatching eggs???

Want to come shave my alpaca and keep the stuff??/ Alpaca blanekts?

Thank you, but I'd better not .... tonight I bought a Komondor puppy that cost a heck of a lot more than those peacocks. I may be in the doghouse

Durn Carla I wish that I knew you were in the market for peas. At the Prague auction there were about 10 or so adults going from 40 each for the blues up to 110 for the whites.

I missed 'em

Well, if anyone hears of some breeding age black shoulder peafowl for sale, I may be in the market for a pair or trio, if the price is right that is. Every since I saw Maribeth's black shoulder peas, I've decided they are my favorite variety. The other colors are pretty too, but .... something about their color and the fact that the peahens stay a light creamy color, I just love them.

Sometimes it takes months of treatment if it is wryneck- i have a little silky roo, when i got him could barely walk, he still has problems walking, but he is such a fighter i refuse to put him down. He seems to get leg cramps, but can get around- no its not crazy to have her a pet- and maybe she is good with the little ones in the brooder- a surrogate- my theory is if they aren't in pain, they will be given every chance-

Yes, sadly that is true

Well, there is the weekly Guy Rose auction in Perkins on Saturday mornings that I've never been to.

Hey! You are new? Surely we've seen you at the auctions. Tell us more!

Welcome to the Okies thread

You have found a wonderful group of folks who live in Oklahoma or wish they lived in Oklahoma.

Since you need an auction fix as your first post, I won't bother with the disclaimer about the auction addicts on here. Sounds like you are already there

Doesn't Alex have an auction on Friday night the same 2nd and 4th weekends as the Blanchard auction?
And of course, there is always Maud on Thursday nights and the Guy Rose auction up by Perkins every Saturday morning.

12 Baby chicks and a mama hen to take care of them! Yeah! I had to put them into a cage inside the rabbit barn, since every place I normally put hens w/chicks is getting really wet right now. It was funny to see the mama hen flare her wings and dance just out of my reach when I put a couple of chicks she took outside, into a bucket for transport. The chicks were cheeping and she was upset. I gathered the rest of the chicks that were still in the nest box and took the entire family to the cage. Put a large rubber feed pan in the cage and some straw and the chicks into the feed pan. Mama settled right down on her babies, happy as she could be.

I love mama hens with new chicks

Hello all. We have been working on the house all day. I came home to get a few supplies; ie: snacks, and found that my babies are hatching on day 21. I'm so excited. I've never had them hatch on the correct day before. Nothing was going on when I left earlier, but an hour later I had one out and one more pip. Now, there is still only one out but 3 pipped. I only have 10 in the hatcher right now. I have several more that need to go in the hatcher on Wednesday.
