A bit ago, I candled an extra-large batch of guinea eggs--someone (here maybe) had shown double stacking eggs in a Genesis, so rather than throwing them away when I dismantled the nests (too risky for the hens)--I put them all in thinking many wouldn't be fertile. Fortunately, I also set up another 'bator with mostly lavender silkie eggs. Rather to my dismay, nearly ALL the guinea eggs are developing--around 60--but none of the silkies. I'll have to trim cushions drastically and hope that'll work. Now, what am I going to do with so many guineas? I have an order for 8! My guineas are all fancy colors, so there is a little demand for them, but the trick is making the right contacts.
Guess I can always take them to auctions. most people around here haven't seen the fancy colors, and they are very dramatic in the tiny keets.
