HOWDY EVERYONE!!

Im a new okie in the house and was invited here by carla (thanks carla).

Im in enid and have a few (9) hens that are less than 6 months old, just starting to lay eggs. Anyone else here in enid?

We are comming back this weekend for a fast trip.

Do your goats faint often or only when you make them do it. I wondered if things like thunder, loud noises, strangers etc ,causes them to faint. or is it more of a on command thing?

Maybe you could make it to the Blanchard auction on Saturday night?

My goats will faint pretty easy when they get excited. Yes, loud noises will do it, but they especially get excited when they see us with a feed bucket. They all start walking round more stiff-legged than usual then ... and if one decides to head butt another to keep them away from the food ... it usually results in a knock down! They really are funny to watch.

The best thing about them is that they can't climb anything or jump fences!

What? Hey, my hubbie (Gerald) & I work there too. Hmmm ... I wonder if we know you.

Do a web search on how to capon (castrate) a chicken .... not that I would ever try it myself, but I guess lots of people do. Actually, it needs to be done when they are fairly young, too. I recommend re-homing the rooster and buying a bantam black & white roo that can't reach the hens

Theres alot of books on caponizing roosters and its not hard to do at all but you are almost guarenteed to take losses. its best to try it on a dead bird first as the PP said Most vets wont touch it. http://www.afn.org/~poultry/capon.htm

No, the buyer only buys the bird, unless you want to sell the cage.

Of course, you might want to bring extra cages for all the birds you unintentionally bid on because of the great prices and you got caught up in the thrill & excitement of bidding

You can put as many birds as will safely fit in a carrier. People bring their birds in all kinds of cages, big and small. The most popular cage looks like a wire rabbit cage. When we take birds for sale, we usually put them in double, triple or quad wire cages and then put several birds in each cage. We also usually bring containers for water for each of them. We save plastic coffee cans & cut them down for waterers for our auction birds.

have not been on here in a while again. just jumped in to catch up and noticed the word "bobcat" and it caught my interest..........a couple weeks ago while out with he birds, i heard alot of rustling in the burnt pile of our old shed(yeah, still there after the fires). I figured it was my dog and called to her. I was only about 20 ft away from where this noise was and expecting my dog to come running I was completely shocked to see a bobcat come darting out of that pile wih my dog in hot pursuit. I havnt lost any of my birds to any preditors so far which surprises me after seeing this bobcat. anyway, hought i would share. good day all
