so, will Blanchard be a "meet up" for some of the teens who met each other in May at POOPS?

I am planning on attending also, Monty.

Got the bees out of the house this evening. They were much friendlier tonight, with all their brood gone so they were no longer protecting their babies. I hope to be able to bottle some of the honey that was in the freshest comb. The bees at my house and at the house of a friend will get to rob out the honey from the old dark comb. Once they put it into the comb in their hives, it will be good honey. Right now, it would be a major mess to try and strain the honey from the dark comb and it would have lots of bee parts in it as well.

Glad you got that done Maribeth!! What did you do with the bee's? did you relocate them??

Yes the teens are meeting up again! I know mine is ready to go! I also think he is just ready to get out of town for a while & have some fun.

Regretfully, we were unable to save the bees. Between the heat and the fact that they gorged themselves on honey and thus were more prone to injury prior to the time we sucked them into the bee vacume, we ended up killing most of those we were able to capture.

The honey and comb will be recycled back to other bee hives, so it won't go to waste.

I learned a lot. Extracting an established hive from a structure is much more difficult than capturing a swarm. If there hadn't been a quick deadline for getting the bees out of the structure and it hadn't been so hot, I would have tried to trap them using a one-way funnel kind of device. Unfortunately, the homeowner has new windows being installed and we couldn't wait until fall and cooler temperatures, when the bees would have been less likely to suffer injury during an extraction. It was a learning experience.

The thought of dealing with that many teenagers has me in awe of your levels of patience.
I also think you will be doing a lot of clapping because you are hot

Thanks Maribeth but in this case, I didn't have to deal with them too much, just made sure I cooked enough burgers and dogs for everyone. The kids aren't too bad when I am controlling the food.
It was hot but we had a little cloud cover so not to bad considering how hot ti was today.

I think I will try and make it, and also see if Alyssa will want to ride up with me to visit with her friends Macy & Matt. I moved a bunch of birds around yesterday and rebanded some and making notes, The project birds are coming along nicely, now to try and get some more #'s on the ground.

Good Morning okies!!!!

Are you talking hatching in this heat? I can't do it, I had a bad hatch when it started warming up so I shut it down! I will start again when it cools off.

I could just ask Matt if Alyssa plans to go!

Maribeth sorry you were able to save the bee's but at least you can use the old honey for yours, so something was saved.
