There are two classes of any APA/ABA poultry show, Junior Class and Open Class. The juniors can, and do, show in the open class but only juniors can show in the junior class.

Oh I hear the next question coming as well so here are the websites for the APA and the ABA.

There are many here that do show birds so if you have any questions just ask.

Here is a pic of one of our NNs at the last show held in Guthrie Ok.

And now for the rest of the story on this hen.

She was hatchery stock from Ideal in Tx. We have actually done fairly well with stock from both McMurray and Ideal through the years due to the fact that the NN genes are very dominant and you get very typey birds from near any stock.

Congrats on the wins. Looks like The Fancy is going to be in good hands with the quality of juniors that are coming up in the ranks!

I totally agree. I put a Malay hen in a cage with the two chicks she hatched yesterday and this evening, there was a third chick sitting among the eggshells in the nest the hen came off of. I hadn't put the unhatched eggs into the cage with her, since she had been running around with her two chicks for almost an entire day when I captured her and the chicks. I tried to get the Malay to take the chick, but she kept pecking at it and rolling it over onto its back - so I put it in with the 'Black Star hen that has hatched about 6 chicks on her own and recieved another 6-8 chicks from the incubator that were set when she received her auction eggs. She took it right in, so I am hopeful that it will make it.

Morning Everyone, Finally getting some rain here. It's rained all around us the last several times and when we did get some it just sprinkled a little and quit.
I won't be getting anything done today having some troubles with my back and going to give it a rest today so called in and took something to help and not even coffee is going to keep me awake for much longer,
I hate it when I am going to be home all day and not able to go work on the pens and coops.
Everything’s coming along well and well have some more areas ready for chickens before too long as long as I can get back to working on them soon.
Update on my hen with the swollen eye, It's not so swollen now she sure don't like to be caught to put ointment in it,
I think she must have got something in it though never did see anything still a little watery and partly closed but can't see any damage that's noticeable anyway,
Jeannie, Lucy’s eye is also much better the scratch is all but gone I decided the antibiotic ointment couldn't hurt her and Goosey threw more of a fit over the treatment than she did LOL,
Is there a preferred diet for geese? I have been just mixing scratch grain with laying pellets I don't have anything else other than rabbit pellets I wonder if that would be good to feed them some of seems to have a bit of everything you'd think would be good for a goose and as I understand it what's good for the goose is good for the gander
I've been wanting to let them out of their pen to swim in the pond but I'm afraid to since it's not fenced off and lately the coyotes have been active on my property last night they were in the trees just behind the house raising a fuss the dogs ran out and chased them off but I know they aren't going to go far I'm thinking about setting a couple live traps back there I really don't want them to start coming around the front side and trying to get in the pens.
Hope everyone has a great day and gets all the rain you need
