Yes they can show in open shows but not in 4H, I plan to some day when I get my girl going good.

Ivyblaze,

I show at ABA shows. Cement (Nov. 27), Shawnee (Dec 10-12) and Prior (March ?) are good ones that adults can show at that I don't have to travel to far to get too. I'm not much on driving very far.

I always gave them a scoop of Game Bird feed once daily in the mornings and let them forage the rest of the day until it was time to put them up in the evening.

I am glad her eye is doing better... and for the most part Lucy is pretty docile its just goosy who gets nerved if he feels his woman is being "man handled" lol

Bill as a general rule rabbit pellets are not good to feed poultry with. The salt content is too high.

Alfalfa pellets however are great to feed as is the hay. The poultry will pick the leaves off and then toss the stems into the garden to break down over the winter or use as a mulch in the summer.

Grace has the county fair this week and she has been in "FULL MODE" for the last month or so. She has been making, sewing, painting, photo shooting, etc. etc.
She had always loved the fair but with her added responsibility of being Poultry Superintendent this year the load has been much greater. She had been doing great. She actually starts today at 5pm and will be in a dead run the rest of the week. She is entering most of her things today and we are going to try to load and enter birds in the morning (if it isn't pouring rain) and she has been baking all week. (Guess What...I get the extras

would be safe to feed it to your snake?

I actually thought about that.

I would be a little worried about it's claws and scratching my baby, but it is out of the question anyway. It is twice the size of the largest mouse that my snake has eaten.

Do you have a vegie garden? If not, I'm not sure I would consider it a pest. I'd just let it go.

You have found a wonderful group of folks who either live in Oklahoma or wish they lived in Oklahoma. What kind of chickens are you wanting to acquire? Some of us have addictions to hatching eggs, attending poultry auctions and acquiring poultry, so we would be happy to assist you in finding the varieties of your heart's desire.

Maribeth, Thanks for posting the link about the mean lil rooster. I got him today. He is now in solitary confinement so all children can feel safe.

A funny story about it is that when I called the lady to ask, she told me that another guy was already coming to get all of her extra roosters. I said thanks and almost hung up but I thought that I recognized her voice so I asked if she was the person I thought she might be and she said yes. As it turned out, the lady was Okiechick57.
Anyway she kept the mean lil roo for me and I got him today.
As a tribute to him I stopped at Rooster's cafe in Jones and ate a huge chicken fried steak!

If you don't have chickens yet just reading the thread might help because most of us have the breeds
that we have in our signature line, and might be able to get you started
