Okies in the BYC The Original

The first qualifying match for self blue (lavender--they refuse to call them lavender) was for the American Bantam Association and was held in Ohio a month or so ago. This one is for the American Poultry Association. I believe there had to be 25 or more birds and a certain number of breeders at the show in Ohio. This show requires 50 or more birds and, I think, at least 5 breeders. We won't know until sometime in the spring if they are acceptd into the standards. I do know they met the number requirements in Ohio and expect to also do so in Shawnee.

Monty, I'm looking forward to meeting silkie people from several other states. Most of my birds are not as nice as the best silkies, but I'm getting there.

As far as I know, that's the only way you can sell inside. There is no other charge, though. You can sell outside without renting a space, but it's going to be cold. You can contact Steve at [email protected], and he can tell you if there is any other way. The cages will hold several birds, depending on their size.

I sent Steve an email and he wrote back that there should still be some sale cages left available at show date, so I will just rent a couple when I get there.

Unless she snuck out and mingled with the neighbor's Rott. But we don't think so. She hates him. May make for an interesting mix, though. It will be pretty obvious if she did.
