ok i must be honest right now i have two borders with 50+ chick in my house and two sillkie roo ( dont have pin made for them yet )two coronation pullets and five white yocohamas lol

Coarl if you just want to feed one pig out to butcher you can do that in an eight by eight or sixteen foot pen and move it ever so often or put it on a floor to keep it clean, they do root and make a mess of the ground but can be kept on concrete or a floor and it can be washed down and kept clean. It takes about 6-9 months to grow one out to a 230-300 lb weight to butcher for good bacon, pork chops and ham, we make the rest in fresh ground meat because we don't eat much sausage, we use the ground meat like hamburger!

Gnight all, up early, Lynn

Lynn - I'm tempted. I've always wanted to have some farm-raised bacon. When DH gets home from his weekend trip I'll ask. You'll probably be sold out by then

Do they need lots of space? I don't know anything about raising piggies. I know they are delicious, though.

Yeah and Coral they are fun and easy to raise! No kidding. If you can raise a dog you can raise a pig! You should try one at least so you can say"been there done that" ! And I can tell you just from the pics that Lynn's are well worth the money!

my real motive was to see pictures of people's chickens.
the Yokohama has a marvelous tail! -very different that a cochin tail.
Are chickens more diverse than dogs? maybe not, they don't vary quite as much as the difference in Chihuahuas and Great Danes. Birds in general though...
