I am still at school!

I have the "band" in my room right now so i can't teach my environmental class like I like to...we are looking up information about savanahs and other grasslands...we should be discussing the Indians of the rain forest and the benefits and negatives of contacting them...we were talking about the lumber industry and got into the issues in south america...yeah...I am bad about rabbit trails..but with this class (one kid) it works great...he likes learning

unless I get me a new wife i will not have a daughter...

I think granddaughters wold be perfect...spoil them...get them real rotten...and give them back! My mom only has grandsons...and her prospects don't look good for any granddaughterw

A little late entering this discussion.

I buy only silkies and showgirls, and to get the quality I want, have to pay at least $50 to $100 a bird (I buy only a very few). Have even paid $50 for a very young babe. Started out with culls from a good breeder because I knew you could improve them. Problem is you have to have a LIFETIME to do that and you get a lot more culls than good birds yourself! I don't have that long a lifetime left; at 70, I figure I've only got about 20 more years. I try to price my birds where "normal" people (especially kids) can afford them but still get nice birds from good stock. My prices also depend on where I am selling them.

Monty, I'm sure the $200 silkies you saw at Shawnee were a friend's "paint" silkies. This is a brand new color pattern, and is VERY rare. They've been developing them in Europe for several years, but just getting started here in the states. It takes genes from another breed of chicken and very careful breeding to start that pattern, and though the ones you saw were quite nice, they're far from "finished." Those were the first paints I've seen, and only began hearing about them last year. I don't think I'm going to get into the paints. My project birds are porcelains, and am already gettng some fairly nice birds.

Boys aint all that bad, they are just as bad as girls some times though, I have 4 girls and 2 boys so I think the girls are bit me=ore trouble, least so far mine have been, the three girls that have graduated High School though were all Valedictorians of their classes and one son due to graduate this year will be Val or Salutitorian(sry sp) of his class, the last two though, if they keep arguing today!!!! They may not make it through high school!!!! They are driving me crazy so sending one to bed and the other out to do chores, separation!!!! The solution to this problem, gotta go supervise the chores!!!! Later guys, Lynn
