Grace, I'm hoping they will hatch around my wedding. The nest is very close to the chapel, maybe I could get some ducklings in my wedding pictures!

I forgot you were moving, how is it coming?

Foghorn, OUCH! I have never been stung, thank goodness. How did the bugger get you THREE times!?

Yesterday was an exciting day for me.

At work we all have to wear name tags. When I still worked outside mine fell off, and got run over. Since the clip was broken I quit wearing it, but the manager had me get it out yesterday to fix it. I put it in my pocket and forgot about it. Til it fell in the toilet. And the automatic flush kicked in... I figured my managers would be mad, but they were laughing so hard! And about an hour later I caught some fake money at my register!

Cammie, baby Ducks would be a good addition to your wedding pictures!

The move is going kind of slow, and my birds are mostly to blame

I am selling some this Tuesday at the Blue auction, plus I have already sold some.... so I'm working on the thinning down!

We've got chickens in the house! This baby is early and it just about gave me a heart attack when I first saw it, I was expecting eggs. They aren't supposed to hatch till tomorrow. Thanks Carla for the great eggs!

OK guys I am back to regular life, it has been a long month I had a set of eggs in that I thought were goners I had left about 10 in there just in cases well nothing from them on day 21 to I figured they were all goners I told my husband that he would have to dig a hole the next day I woke up the next morning to a pip 2 hatched 1 made it it a cuckoo maran and his brooder is right by my chair in the lining room. I had one hen break her neck somehow it was so sad and a lot of my older hens are taking a break from laying. I hav been baking like crazy this past weekend my 76 year old grandmother cooks for a church camp every year and asked me to bake some dinner type rolls and then asked if I could whip up some cinnamon rolls well 200 crescent rolls and 200 cinnamon rolls later a day of running in the city to drop off the rolls and pick up aunt's 15 year old mini spitz to dog sit (was my dog until a move) came home and got the dog settled and birds taken care of came in for a couple of hours went out to mow and my aunt's dog was dead. I felt horrible I was able to hunt her down by cell phone she is a counselur at the camp my ganrdma cooks at and tell her I felt horrible but she said that she knew it was probably coming soon his vet said he should have doed 3 years ago and aunt was glad it happened where she was not the one to find him. I have found out I will not be able to go to chickenstock Husband has had to go out of town last week and will be gone wed through sat as far as we know so far I am not used to being out here just me and the kids (sister-in-law no longer living with us) however the additional money will come in handy ( he is gettin an additional 50+ per day) but it still does not make it easy, and alot of other plans have had to be changed also. Well better go for now.

Welcome to chickmommar from Norman and al6517 from Elgin.
Many already know who chickmommar is, she runs a duck rescue.
Welcome both to our Okie group. It was also good to hear from Luvz and some of others who I haven't heard from much.
Anyone heard from OKcarla?
Again welcome to the new folks!

Grace, you're selling more of your birds?
ep.gif
Which ones? If you sell stuff at the Blue Auction and leave before it's over, do they mail you a check?

The d'Uccles are doing good. Hopefully I can get them a pen/tractor finished soon so they will be much more happier eating grass & bugs.

I put the ameraucana chicks in with my other chicks that were about the same age and they're all getting along nicely! They're all in a tractor in the back yard.

The weather has been quite hot lately and very humid down here and I have broodies out my ears! Just recently had an ancona, a red sex-link, and a d'uccle (one of my millies) go broody, on top the fact I already had a bantam mix hen, bantam brahma, and bantam cochin all being broody!

The bantam mix and brahma were sharing a nest, so as the chicks hatch the mixed hen takes care of them and the brahma keeps sitting the eggs. lol

Oh yeah, my Japanese bantam hen hatched a clutch of 9 babies. Would have been 10 but I guess the one got squished. I doubt any of them are pure, some aren't even hers. I suspect one is a cubalaya mix from my cubalaya hen.

Hi everyone I'm new here too. We live out in the probably soon to be not country

off of I-240 I found this website and read up on it and decided to get some chicks at the feed store. I grew up in the city, but my parents both grew up with chickens horses cows etc...they just skipped a generation for some reason. So I'm bringin it back!

I thought I would start out with Buff Orp and RIR chicks, and go from there. If you have any advice feel free to give it!

hi i am from morrison, ok...yes i try to attend every sat, but things come up...its a pretty good auction i think..not alot of purebred chickens though, but for the most park lots of variety....thanks for the kindness.....

My vote is a racoon, last night I lost a turkey poult, it was wedged between the wire and the bottom plate of the run. I set a trap near the run and sure enough there he was, this is classic coon attack method reach in and wait, my turkeys are kinda dumb, even after I spoke to them and said you Idiots better wise up or get ate, HA HA.

Good to see so many Okies, looking forward to talking with Y'all, by the way looking for some good Roo's, last batch of straight was all hens go figure.

Hello all: Does anybody know if there will be a sale at Cement this coming Saturday, and if so where in town is it located ? can you tell me anything about this auction and how it runs, is it an ok auction ?
