just happens with pullets, there is a considerable amount of stretching to allow the egg to be layed, as long as it isnt just covered in blood, I wouldnt give it a second thought, very normal.....kind of like pushin a football through the mouth of a water balloon....

Good, that's what I was hoping. You guys are so great and sorry for asking so many questions, but I really appreciate your input.

dont worry about, I was askin those same questions not that long ago....

leg hold and snare work better on foxes...best thing is to sit and wait with a shotgun...have known folks to catch them with live traps but they have some sort of voodoo going as far as I can tell...coons are easy to catch...not always easy to keep trapped but they fall for stuff pretty easily...cats are dumb...skunks are really dumb....bobcats can be tricky...I would go with snares if you don't have cats and dogs running around

best deterrent for a fox is get a good dog...a yappy terrier runnin loose, then a good hound that can handle that fox

....a good airedale is hard to beat...

so would a terrier type keep coyotes from getting curious - so far we have only seen them occasionally

KarenN - Look for me at the swap. I will have chicks, chickens, and ducks. If I can find my blue POOPS shirt, I'll wear it. Otherwise, look for a silver Tacoma. My cages will be set up on a couple of white folding tables, and the rest will be on the tailgate.

I'll look for you! I'm just shopping and checking things out tomorrow - may bring some next time! What kind of chicks??

I'll be there too. Not planning on buying anything, but ya never know! Not selling anything either, just curious!

Coyotes would eat a terrier.

Im heading to OKC in the morning. The wife and I are going to have a weekend without the kids. I would like to see if I could get my hands on some polish eggs or maybe some hamburgs. I am looking for something that is silver to add to my flock. If anybody knows of any place I could get some please let me know. I am not having good luck with shipped eggs. I just candled some hamburg eggs I got off of ebay and only have 1 showing development of 12 eggs. just hatched 2 of 14 from the previous try. Thos are some high dollor chicks.

Coyotes would eat a terrier.

I had a pair of jagdterriers that have killed 3 coyotes between the pair of them, and the old female held her own against a single coyote twice...and an airedale can kill a coyote on its own, I have seen that as well...

That'd be too easy... They are opportunistic. The birds i've lost to them have always been taken during the day. From morning to afternoon. You'd need a large dog, at least as large as they are.
