Thank you poco-Excellent info. So let me make sure I understand, It is ok to give both at the same time?? Also should I be puting it in everyones water or just the sick birds? I havnt had any reason to medicate yet and was wanting to stay away from meds, but the health is more inportant to me at this point. If I could get like a break down of normal byc care that would be great cause so far I have tried to be all natural with them. My birds are only 1 year old if that helps. Same as my experience.

thanks! my roo and one of the girls is from Al, then the two younger ones are from Poco- they are as different as kids in personality- Barny the roo is a big teddy bear, never agressive to us, will even hop in your lap for treats- such a relief after the last roo we had! And the friendliest of all the brahmas!

Did you take those pictures? They are really nice. We had a couple woodpeckers at our feeders by the window today, a junko too. Everybody is hungry.

yes, i am an amateur photographer- have to be for art reasons- anyway, i took a photography course to fill up my schedule one semester- and really fell in love with it- most my subjects are birds of one sort or another- we've got the juncos, various finches, sparrows, cardinals coming in

m.ruzycki - I feel like a failure. I can't find dose information or a specific treatment regimen to post for you. I can find a library full of information about what coryza is, but treatment information is absent. My chicken health handbook lists erythromycin (Gallimycin), streptomycin (Vetstrep), and sulfadimethoxine as treatment options, but nothing is said about how much to use or when to administer which drug. I do keep seeing/reading that culling is preferred because birds become carriers.

Chicken Healers!!!! Put your thinking caps on and figure out where you hid your links. m.ruzycki needs help to medicate some birds.

if it is actually coryza you would be better off cullingthe sick birds, treating the others with Sulmet and watch carefully. However Coryza has a 7-10 day incubation period and it is more likely a simple problem brought on by the extreme temps, lack of water, and stress. That is not to say you don't take care of them well, just that when the water is frozen they will get dehydrated and stressed.

Thanks so much for the concern. Made me smile. This group of bycers really is great. Ive got the chicken health handbook, thats how I knew it was coryza. I just want to learn from those who know and have been doing it first hand rather than go by the instructions on the bottle. Im more of a hands on is the best way to learn type of person, books are just a good reference.
